Agreed, there are so many historical sites in Cyprus. I would count all churches, mosques, ancient city sites (like Salamis) and even buildings from the various ages (including the Ottoman rule) as historical sites. As a gesture of goodwill both sides should make efforts to restore old churches, mosques and any ancient sites to their former glory. Again though, unification of the island would almost necessitate this happening anyway.

You couldn't make more sense mate. If both sides protect the other's values then it will be a huge step towards reconciliation. But believe me the Turkish side is so poor even to built an infrastructure to the cities and improve the roads etc. I think with the funds of EU, the Greek monuments can be repaired and protected.

Hi Garbitsch,
Glad you agree. In fact I think most people from both communities
would agree on this one, which is always a good place to start.
Using EU funding is also a great idea. The building of an infrastructure which serves the whole island will come with time and, hopefully,a solution.

Yes I think both sides should start doing something physical. They have been discussing what is written on the paper and i am so sick of it. I need to see some action :D

which is more important???

Appears that you feel the aid given to TCs should be spent on restoring GC monuments?

The RoC DOES look after mosques...just take the Halla Sultan Tekke mosque for example. In the North on the other hand, they either piss and shit in churches, loot them or turn them into cafes. Even in Turkey, they make up stupid laws which prevent the Christian communities upkeeping the churches and places of historical Christian significance. Basically, they are trying to kill of Christianity in Turkey and Turkofy all the ethnic communites....who have been there before there was such thing as a Turk.

As for the aid for TC...the RoC wants to give the aid to TC...its just Talat and the people in charge want to have the 'TRNC' semi-recognised as a state too.

..but as ususal, Talat runs to the media saying the Greek Cypriots are trying to prevent them from getting aid.
