A fish stinks from the head downwards. It all starts with the President I'm sorry to say. For as long as tolerates such behaviour, they seem to have his blessing. What other lawabiding decent president issues pardons for jailed lawyers and wiping of fines for corrupt politicians. The next time anyone of us is faced with a fine, we should refuse to pay until these scumbags payup to. I mean, it's not like they are not creaming the tax payers money in phoney salaries and other benefits. I am ashamed to say that Cyprus is as corrupt as being accused by all and sundry. We really do need to clean up this corruption act.

Does anyone think it's only Cyprus that's corrupt? EVERY SINGLE nation on this earth is corrupt and EVERY SINGLE person is corruptible. Everyone has their price and would do anything for money and/or power. Nobody gets to the top of anything by being nice - everyone must have a 'bastard streak' in them to rise to power.
That said, there's no amount of money or power on this earth that would make me sleep with a Mongol.

Corruption in high places... ???
Happens everywhere boys and girls. Politicians with power are not to be trusted.
Couple of years ago, as many of you will remember, here in GB, politicians were embellishing their expense accounts with all manner of extravagant spending and expecting the tax-payer, ordinary people, to pick up the bill for their excesses and get this: some of them still feel they did nothing wrong!!!
As to CY... haven't the usual suspect long-established richer families felt they have the privilege to screw the rest of the population for decades and to be out of the reach of the law?
Developers with their sharp practises, lawyers who have no concept of professional standards, politicians not paying speeding tickets etc etc... and soooo many of them getting away with not paying taxes.

Find the usual workarounds reh Cap so things turn out like this ...
A lot of CYs have been telling me that President Christofias is a disaster, so much so that particularly in the wake of the Mari Tragedy some people are said to have taken to renaming him as President Catostrofias.
(Nothing libellous there cos you're reporting what others have said)
In my opinion President Christofias is absolutely useless. I mean he commissions a report in to the Mari Tragedy, which when it finds him partly culpable, dismisses the report.
