(Haaretz is an Israeli newspaper)

Greece sinks into the abyss, while neo-Nazis are celebrating

The neo-Nazi party won popular support in a way similar to how Hamas won popular support in Gaza and the Muslim Brotherhood is winning in Egypt: by filling a void that the government didn't.

A far more worrying surprise was the incredibly strong performance of the neo-Nazi party, Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn). Although the polls have been showing Golden Dawn entering Parliament by crossing the required 3% threshold, the 7% it won in Sunday's election has shocked the country's political system and most of the Greek people, who do not subscribe to its neo-Nazi ideology.

Golden Dawn won popular support in a way similar to how Hamas won popular support in Gaza and the Muslim Brotherhood is winning popular support in Egypt: by filling a void that the government didn't. They have been offering "security services" to Greeks living in neighborhoods heavily populated by illegal immigrants, where crime has gotten out of control. With its group of thugs, Golden Dawn escorts the elderly to ATM machines and violently attacks immigrants, legal or illegal.

It is not certain that everyone who voted for Golden Dawn fully grasped its agenda. The Greek people are not neo-Nazis, and it would be unfair to characterize them as such. Golden Dawn’s leader, Nikos Mihaloliakos, gave a triumphant and Hitleresque speech Sunday which shocked Greeks – and the international media. He thanked his black shirt-wearing thugs and vowed to continue the struggle inside and "outside" the Parliament. "Those who betray this country – it's time for them to be afraid. We are coming," he said. Let's hope that "outside the Parliament" does not mean they will expand their violence against immigrants.

Alright, I'll be the first one to say it - this is excellent news. For far too long have the people been pushed around, prodded and poked and humiliated by the out-of-touch politicians who benefit themselves at the expense of the country and its people. It must be like living in WWII again for the Greeks - basically, being held captive by a foreign power (at least it's Germany rather than the USA). Nowhere else in the world can you say a people or country is as proud of its history and heritage as Greece.

Another thing I detest, is when something is outside of the box of what is known as 'the norm', people label that something as facist, Nazi, neo-Nazi, 'Hitleresque', etc. It suits them to label in a degrading way and fans the flames of hatred of the ignorant masses. These people are lazy and won't find things out for themselves and so think that Xrisi Avgi are facist racists. It just goes to show the state of peoples minds when the reporter states the XA supporters mind old dears whilst out and about but are scum because they target immigrants. The immigrants who target the old dears are scum. Immigrants very rarely better a country. They bring it down whilst raising the crime levels; they rarely integrate with the local population and ghetto-ise themselves, making those areas no-go areas for the locals; they rarely learn the language of the new country they're in; they are usually the sh*t of their own country and they are a drain on the resources of the new country. These people always have eight children in tow and rarely work as they are unskilled.

To be fair, Hitler had a fore-sight very few people have the b*lls to acknowledge.

They need to shake off the 'neo-nazi" labels thrown at them, in the style adopted by the BNP. They certainly serve a purpose in any democracy but I wouldn't want to see them have any more power - certainly not as much as the BNP has with 2 MEPs and regularly receiving up to 17% of the electoral vote. I'm sure GD will only serve as a barometer to indicate when things become normalised again in Greece. Both GD and BNP are a reflection of increased infiltration by Muslim extremists who not only fail to integrate but also work to change the democratic process (as TCs do in Cyprus). Let's not forget that Greece has received very little help with removing the trash Turkey throws over its borders!

- But neo-nazis they are not - that 'accolade' is preserved for the Germans!

(And if the Jews had any sense they wouldn't ameliorate the "Nazi" labels in this way and diminish the harm Hitler did to the Jewish people.)
