The French and Greek people speak

And vote with hearts not heads .........

The left is making promises that neither nations wallets can afford and people have voted for a dream not the unfortunate reality.

I'm by no means anti Europe ..... In fact the ideals of free trade, free movement and harmonious relationships are both attractive and , IMHO , productive.

But this fiscal and judicial " stitch up" by unelected technocrats has just hit a big obstacle and when the Irish vote to reject the EU fiscal package later this month things will get worse ..... Throw in the Schleswig Holstein elections ( with the impact that has on merkel ) and the whole "euro" concept could get very very unstable.

Be interesting to watch the markets and forex tomorrow :-(

It's the much-needed peaceful revolution. :)

- Europe was doing great before the unregulated bankers/hedge fund managers/technocrats took over and started gambling with our future. But, the Euro will survive against the onslaught from the Dollar/Sterling enemy.

Fairtrade for all. :)

Unfortunately for all involved ( For all Europeans I hope not) I foresee the following ....

The French socialists will promise much and deliver nothing due to economic reality and German pressure.

In the shorter term

Ireland will vote NO to the fiscal agreement..... Yet more chaos will ensue
Portugal, Spain and Italy will get deeper into the shit

Greece will lurch from crisis to crisis,- due to political, social and economic instability (with possibly another election within months)then exit the euro later this year ........ This will actually have little effect on the euro zone due to the tiny size of the Greek economy within his context.... I fear that the " populist revolution" will see the centre left/right technocrats , in particular Merkel and her associates, looking over there shoulders and seeking a sacrificial lamb and Greece will be it.

The logic being ...... As things get worse in Greece ..

1st wave of media and government comment In other European states - " look how incompetent they are - they can't even form a cohesive and strong coalition to govern"

Delay in IMF/ECB 11billion needed in May ..... Chaos and fear mongering for a while

2nd Wave - "Look everybody - Here is what happens when you don't accept austerity" ,then a barrage of "NEWS" on how lazy, and corrupt the Greeks are.

3rd wave ...... Once the populace has been sufficiently engaged in the propoganda storm - " Greece you are out !!! " (assuming Greece has not done the sensible thing and left the euro already) and the powers that be can appear to have done something .

I hope I'm wrong !!!!!

Tonight - there will be much champagne drunk by the French socialists....... Tomorrow and for the next week the bond markets will, I'm sure, provide a nice hangover.
