There are 3 young Cypriot kids who, at different stages of the 2011/2012 Greek league season, signed professional contracts with AEK (in Greece) and have become members of the first team squad, promoted from the ΑΕΚ academy. These 3 kids have a bright future; I believe this is the first time that 3 Cypriots have signed professional contracts with the first team of AEK at any one time. They are:
Nikos Englezou - 18 year old defender. Has played 3 games this year for AEK senior team. Played last week with positive reviews.
Dimitris Froxylias - 18 year old midfielder. He broke the record to become the youngest player to compete in European competition for AEK at the age of 17 vs Anderlecht (I was at that game).
Giorgos Aresti - 18 year old defender. Signed a 3 year professional contract last month, which will see him promoted to the senior team as of 1 July 2012, after impressive performances with the youth team.
I wish the best of luck to these talented players and I will keep informed updates to let those interested know how they are getting on.
NB - Dimitris Froxylias' father owns the Nicosia-based restaurant "Oi Elladites". Some of you may have eaten there
