I think everyone is a bit too overexited by Cyprus taking on the rotating 6 m presidency - Chris Toffee Arse will note become president of europe as I think GIG alluded to and in fact by and large when a country holds the presidency it is normally more in the nauture of providing a place to meet, and putting out the trough where the eurocrats and politicos can dip their trotters.

As a reward the host country gets to chair the meetngs and supposedly set the agenda but that ability has ben reduced by the concept of the presidential trois, though who want to enjoy a threesome with some of the politcoes I do not know, unless like Berlusconni they were stinking rich>

The Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Nabil el-Araby, will pay an official visit to Cyprus between June 17 and 18, following an invitation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, in view of the upcoming Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Bilateral relations, current developments in the Middle East and EU–Arab League ties will be on the agenda of talks in Nicosia.

On Monday, a tête-à-tête meeting between Nabil el-Araby and Marcoullis will be followed by extensive consultations between the two delegations. After their meeting, statements will be made to the press.

The Secretary General of the Arab League will be received by President Demetris Christofias and the President of the House of Representatives, Yiannakis Omirou.

The Secretary General of the League of Arab States will depart from Cyprus on Monday evening.
