The tide has turned, Turkey no longer want to be a part of the EU.

...don't you mean Erdogan no longer wants to be a part of the EU?

EU presidency does not depend on us, take up your grievances with Brussels. Or better yet, ask Mama to stop keeping you in the dark ages.

I don't have a greivance with the rotating EU presidency. I was pointing out I don't know what you're all so excited about.

Every member state has a turn, it's a rotating presidency. It doesn't mean you are the favourite or give you any extra priviliges.

So why is your motherland throwing a tnatrum then?? if it were so unimportant why all the threats of cutting ties with the EU, that they later back tracked on (expected of course by turks, I mean who can trust them).

I think you wholly under estimate your own motherlands strategic interests, after all as your FM stated, and I quote (since you like to quote people) "Even if there were NO MOSLEMS in Cyprus, Turkey would still be there".

Now that to me answers ALL of your outstanding posts as to why we are divided, why the troubles and why we are at today where we are at. Wouldn't you agree at least with that?

B25 did you miss me? It's been a couple of hours since I've heard from you.

I do not dispute Turkey (I assume that's who you mean by my motherland, though I'm not from Turkey), may want a foothold in Cyprus, but look at Greece, they have been trying to get a foothold since the 1920's.

Enlighten me, what does 'FM' mean?

I for one am glad that North Cyprus is not part of the Euro. Just as the UK are very happy they kept their own currency.

Thanks B25.

I've downloaded the book and will read it. Your quote is inaccurate, the actual quote reads as follows: -

'Even if there was not one single Muslim Turk over there (Cyprus), Turkey would have to maintain a Cyprus question. No country could possibly be indifferent to an island like this, placed in the heart of its (geographical) location.'

I believe this is the same stance Greece takes on Cyprus. The FM is saying there would be a Cyprus QUESTION. He does not say 'Turkey would be there'.

This accurate version of your quote can also be found here, printed in the Greek Reporter.
