Hasn't anyone told them that the rotating presidency means absolutely nought. Only a chance for them to cock up again !

They really are amazingly thick misguided peasants !

I can't agree with your insults.

But I do agree that the rotating presidency is a pointless flag-waving exercise which will achieve nothing.

Apart from anything else, the entire EU experiment is on the edge of collapse...

Elected governments have been swept away to prevent votes against the EU...

The government in Holland has just collapsed, Sarkozy is likely to fall in France....

And above all this is a debt crisis of unimaginable proportions which has still not been fully addressed...

I don't think that those who really holed the reins of power will be paying scant regard to the thoughts, feelings or needs of Cyprus....

And I don't really think that in times of crisis like this there should be time and money wasted on such a pointless thing.

Its OK lets celebrate the 20th July

The CYs living under the Turkish Occupation generally stay away from those "celebrations", hear that the few people who still turn up for them are those with their Snouts in the Illegal Regime Trough and a few senior TA.

... so thanks for the offer, but no thanks... they'll be something a bit more impressive than the goose-stepping TA and a handful of Illegal Regime sycophants planned for July 1... that all CYs will be be proud of.

66 Days to Go

... 'til July 1 when CY takes up the term Presidency of the EU council.

66 more days for the Illegal Regime/Turkey to impose even more Embargoes on the Freedoms of the CYs living directly under the Occupation.

Ooooh thx for the reminder file, now to make it just a little more colourful and say it in a shouting from the roof-tops sort of way, after all we don't want the likes of VP and Bordo to accuse us of hiding our zivania under a bush...

Yes...

Just 58 Days to Go

... 'til CY assumes the term Presidency of the EU Council

... Just 58 days left for the Criminal Occupation Conspiracy, known by some as "crnt", to try and spoil the party and vainly counter this from the CY2012 site...

..."Cyprus’ image internationally will not just benefit from a successful outcome to its term of holding the Presidency but also from the credibility and accountability that it will gain in doing so. Holding the Presidency is expected to bring many medium and long term benefits for the island. To begin with it constitutes a unique opportunity for the country to promote the image of an equal, capable, valued and effective partner amongst EU member-states. It will also strengthen Cyprus’ relations with other member-states as well as with neighbouring states. At the same time, it will provide a suitable impetus for the upgrading and reorganisation of public sector services and for a more active participation of Cyprus in formulating policy at the European level."...

No, it will actually.
Newton's third law.
In this case a very negative one. Sooner or later.

Why did Turkey make such a big fuss about the Cyprus Republic’s Presidency of the EU then? What were they so concerned about? It's very strange to blow it up into such a huge issue and then say it makes no difference anyway. Bit of a dumb strategy if you ask me...
