REACTION TO MOSQUE VANDALIZM

Postby halil » Wed Apr 18, 2012 8:39 pm

The Köprülü Hacı İbrahim Ağa Mosque located in Limassol has been the recent target of Greek Cypriot fanaticism.

Reactions are growing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, after a group of young Greek Cypriot fanatics vandalized the mosque- another proof that Cyprus Turkish existence and values aren’t being respected in South Cyprus.

In his reaction to the latest example of Greek Cypriot fanaticism, President Derviş Eroğlu said that the attack has come as another proof to the Greek Cypriot mentality which had no respect towards Muslims and the Cyprus Turkish People.

“This isn’t a first. They had burned our mosques and killed our people while they were worshipping” he said.

In another reaction, Head of the TRNC Religious Affairs Department Talip Atalay said that kerosene was most probably used for the destruction of the mosque, adding that this was the fifth time the mosque had been targeted.

“We earlier asked the Greek Cypriot authorities to take measures but they didn’t” he said.

Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk said that the attack has reminded him the 1960’s.Noting that Greek Cypriot fanatics used the same methods that they had used 50 years ago to end the unity in Cyprus, the Premier called on the Greek Cypriots for a common sense.

‘No one will be strong enough to overshadow the negotiations process and to bring the Cyprus Turkish People and Greek Cypriot People in 1958’s’ the Prime Minister said.

He also made public that the renovation of the mosque will immediately be started.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Vakıflar Administration Mustafa Kaymakamzade went to the site to make on the spot inspections.

Really, GCs "again"?

Retired TURKISH General Sabri Yirmibeşoğlu confesses to burning mosque to fire up public

24 September 2010 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL
A retired general who has recently been accused of having conducted an assassination attempt on the life of Turkey's eighth president, Turgut Özal, has inadvertently confessed that he ordered the burning of a mosque as part of psychological warfare operations in 1974.
In remarks published in the Haber Türk daily yesterday as part of an interview with Gen. Sabri Yirmibeşoğlu, who led the Special War Department in 1971 and also worked to mobilize civilian resistance during Turkey's military intervention on Cyprus in 1974, said: “In Special War, certain acts of sabotage are staged and blamed on the enemy to increase public resistance. We did this on Cyprus; we even burnt down a mosque.” In response to the surprised correspondent's incredulous look the general said, “I am giving an example,” in an attempt to clear things up.

The retired general is also believed to have wide-ranging information concerning many alleged crimes and activities of behind-the-scene organizations such as JİTEM. He was also implicated in the Sept. 6-7, 1955 pogrom in İstanbul against minorities, which today is widely believed to have been part of a manipulative plan concocted by Ergenekon-like structures. Yirmibeşoğlu has admitted that the Sept. 6-7 events were organized by the Special War Department, documented by journalist Fatih Güllapoğlu in his book “Operation with No Tanks or Arms.” In the book, Yirmibeşoğlu is quoted as saying, “Sept. 6-7 is the work of Special War [department], and it is a spectacular organization.” In the interview with Haber Türk, Yirmibeşoğlu also attempted to clarify this point. He partially denied what was in the book saying, “In 1971 I was assigned as the senior [head] of the Special War Department. At the time, there was actually no department called the Special War Department, there was only the Mobility Investigation Board that was set up for Cyprus.”

Police are hunting a mob of hooded youths that went on an unprecedented spree of violence last night, targeting Turkish Cypriots cars in Nicosia.
According to Cyprus state radio, cars with Turkish Cypriot number plates were singled out by the bikers who smashed wind screens and damaged cars at various locations across the city.......................

Moreover, according to the media, there are often reported incidents of racist attacks against Turkish Cypriots since the partial lifting of the restrictions to freedom of movement on the island in 2003. However, the penalties given were not very effective.............

In November 2006, 15 to 20 Greek Cypriot teenagers, believed to be members of an ultranationalist group, entered the grounds of the English School and attacked a group of the school's Turkish Cypriot students, causing minor injuries. In February 2009 a Turkish Cypriot cemetery in Limassol was attacked by unknown persons, destroying headstones and causing other material damage. In addition, there is an increase in the number of extreme nationalist web-sites and blogs which include hatred and racist verbal attacks against migrants and the Turkish Cypriots...............

Now just why are the Illegal Regime and its supporters like Halil trying to politcise and exaggerate what's prob an isolated case of mindless vandalism at this time... ???

Let's be on guard by being mindful of dark and ulterior motives to re-rail the Re-Unifying Peace Process by the Illegal Regime and one of its Senior Propagandists.

GENERAL DIRECTOR OF FOUNDATIONS EXAMINED THE MOSQUE AND CONDEMNED THE ATTACK !!!!!!

General Director of Foundations, Mustafa Kemal Kaymakamzade condemned the attack against Koprulu Hacı Ibrahim Aga Mosque in Limasol Turkish street.
Kaymakamzade visited and examined the mosque with his delegation and said ‘this event worried us too much’.
Kaymakamzade said that the roof of the mosque was burned, there is a big damage in the mosque, doors and windows were burned and it is not possible to use the mosque at the moment. Adding that they will complain about this event to the concerned associations of the UN and EU, Kaymakamzade who is also the member of bi-communal cultural heritage committee said that he would put this issue on the agenda during the first meeting of the committee.
Reminding that Greek Cypriots complain about the independence of churches and cultural assets which exist in the Turkish Cypriot side, Kaymakamzade said ‘We never did the same. There are many un-restored churches in the North because of financial impossibilities. But, this attack was done consciously. I condemn Greek Cypriots’...................
