Current state of TC land in RoC

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Current state of TC land in RoC

Postby newgeneration » Sun Apr 15, 2012 9:10 pm

Referencing the last post regarding this matter (now fairly out of date), please join me in discussing the current situation regarding TC land and property in the South.

Specifically, TC's who were allocated 'exchange' land in the North after 1974 vs TC's who left the Island pre 1974 and have not returned nor accepted GC land in the North.

Have there been any cases bought before the GC courts that have not ended in settlement as the 'Sofi' case?

Have any TC's resisded in the South for the required 6 months and won their case in the GC courts?

Have any TC's who left Cyprus pre 1974 successfully claimed back thier land and gone on to develop or sell it, or reside in the South?

There are Turkish Cypriots who remained in the Lemesos area ignoring the TMT who have been able to buy and sell.

SKI - can you clarify the Lemosis area? Is this the TC area in the North West that can only be reached by boat? If so I believe they are a part of TRNC. Have they been able to buy and sell under the RoC laws?

I think there is also a village named Sepitah in the Karpaz region which is RoC. There are several tonnes of food, petrol and other resources brought to them every week by the RoC, also a teacher from Nicosia visits to school the children. I have no idea if they are able to buy and sell thier land and properties however.

You would do well to at least learn the geography of Cyprus you obviously have no clue. Seems to me you may have been left with a plot somewhere and you are trying to find out how to sell it.

"TC" land in the free areas of the RoC can be sold under the RoC laws but is subject to certain conditions.

Why not just tell us what you have and where you might just get a straight answer.

Lemesos was formerly called Limassol in Colonial times. Its the second biggest city in Cyprus. The "TRNC" is a figment of the expansionist Turkish Army's imagination and illegal, but if you mean if it is in the area which isn't under foreign military occupation, the answer is yes.

Here is a tourist video. I hope you visit Cyprus and enjoy your stay.

Houses become ruins if abandoned but some TCs have been actively maintaining them (as holiday homes or weekend retreats?). Many TCs milling around as far as I can tell. Slow drift back to their senses?

Anyway - the RoC takes seriously the matter of preserving these properties for the return to the original owners - proof of which is necessarily lengthy as someone has already stated (6 months?).

As for Public properties of TC interest, such as Mosques - they are ALL in wonderful condition. Here's a photo of one I took recently which had new roof tiles and a lick of whitewash.
