What I see is a bunch of appeasers, including you and some others, that wish to distort the history of Cyprus, by disparaging EOKA and its purpose of wantingto liberate Cyprus from the oppressive English dogs. Bananiot, let go of your teachers instincts, take your suit and tie off, throw your badminton racket in the trash and take a long drawn out dip in a pile of shit, sniff it taste it for a few decades, and then you might come close to understanding what Cyprus was going through under the Brits, and why EOKA was formed.

My bold= You sound like some demented moronic Muslin AKA Saddam Hussein with that childish rhetoric. Go away and grow up and take Island girl with until she grows up.

Now it seems, you are changing the issue, moving the posts during the game. You talk about the need of EOKA as an institution with the known objectives and strategy to implement them to get rid of the colonialists. Of course we needed to get rid of colonialism. It was already an anachronism and even in black Africa, one country after the other, got its independence. The kind of the struggle chosen by two fore-mentioned ridiculously naive Greek Cypriots is being questioned here. The armed struggle only played into the hands of the colonialists and the proof of this is the conditions they imposed on us in 1959.

But, even if you haven't got the capacity to understand this, at least spare us the agony of keeping to the cretin thesis that EOKA defeated Britain.

Thank you for a balanced post, if plonkers like 'Wymoaning Clownboy' looked at the wider picture they'd see that Cyprus was already in line for independence as the British policy was to grant independence to the colonies.
What independence did was beneficial to both Cyprus and the UK, the Cypriots benefitted financialy from the SBAs and the many other uk held sites all over the island, the servicemen including me enjoyed the best posting in HMforces which I shared with my lovely newly wed wife as a 2 year honeymoon.
We still visit the family in Limassol that we rented from and they like many other sensible Cypriots rue the day that the service famillies were moved onto the bases and the income that they lost through the 1974 invasion.

35.000 GBP? For just writing posts in the CF?? Must say. May even think about it myself. Well done my boy! Well done!!

Its quite simple Kimono just go onto 'time deposit' banking in Turkey, the rates aren't as good at the moment but still better than other places, try Garanti Bank and HSBC Turkey and then come back and tell us what you found.

Yeah. But they must give me the 35.000 first. For how long shall I have to post pro-turkish propaganda in the CF to achieve that?

Er... excuse me! Mr teacher...! Wasn't your above question answered by ....YOU previously in this thread and in others? Wasn't YOU who said that Makarios signed the Zurich-London agreements cause he was blackmailed by the Brits? And wasn't Don Kelley who admitted that Britain was defeated cause the 40.000 darling conscripts it deployed on the island could not cope with the GREEK Cypriot school children who were throwing paper pamphlets at them? Gosh, you both have such a sort memory don't you?

English dog, Don Kelley, there arent many places where the dogs of the British Empire, like you, stepped their foot on, and there is peace, is it Israel/Palestine, India/ pakistan, Cyprus, Rwanda, Iraq, Northern Ireland...Your racist empire can also be credited with importing millions of Africans as slaves to the new world. Congratulations on the carnage you left behind. What is Hitler or Stalin compared to the British empire?

One country after another you say, teacher. But you fail to realize, that these countries pillage/plundered by the British was complete or there were conditions for independence, such as holding onto these countries natural resources. ie DeBEERS diamonds, and British petroleum sucking every last ounce of crude from these so called freed colonial lands. Our forefathers formed EOKA, to combat the racist British dogs/pigs, who wanted to drain Cyprus of any dignity and honor and any natural resource Cyprus has to offer. EOKA was formed for independence and the freedom to choose Enosis, our fight continues.

I'd suggest that you learn a little history and specifically consider local culture and PRE colonial tensions -

Let's pick a few thoughts for you to consider -

1. Rwanda was a German then Belgian Colony ..... And the genocide had nothing to do with either .....it was a Hutu/Tutsi Rwanda/Burundi issue ....... Nothing to do with the British EVER

2. I'd suggest you do some research about Islam/ Hindu relationships on the Indian sub continent and particularly the relationships between Muhammed Ali Jinnah/ Nehru and Gandhi ...... Pakistan in particular is a monster of its own creation ...... Look at the history of the relationship and atrocities it carried out in the former east Pakistan ( now Bangladesh ).

3. Iraq ..... Ermmmmm it was under British mandate for 14 years only ! .....Several hundred years under the ottomans and again the whole Sunni/Shia issue rears its ugly head ( as it does throughout the middle east).

4. Northern Ireland ?... A lot of history in Ireland as a whole , however, the predominantly unionist,Protestant counties that formed the province opted out of home rule .... In fact nearly half a million of them signed a petition NOT to be part of Eire........ So yes in Ireland as a whole we have a lot to answer for but northern Ireland is not the clear cut empire issue you assume.

As for the issue of slavery ........ Again far more complicated and certainly not just an English thing but while we talk about empires in this context how about Rome , Greece ( Helotry is just 1 example), The moguls ... The list is endless

And we did have a few success stories to ..... Australia, Canada, Most of he Caribbean , most of the pacific islands handed over .... In a fact a few chose to remain under British rule
