So that is why Limassol is so much richer than Nicosia!! ... oh... wait ... it isn't! The British are the ones who helped the Turks partition Cyprus ... they are even the ones who proposed to Turks the partition idea so they can blackmail us! There was a video posted in the forum some time ago that shows a British official going to Turkey and proposing partition to them in the 50s. The British even made some partition plan back then. EOKA didn't defeat the British but the British had to partner with the Turks in order to defeat us. Two countries with combined population of 120 million fighting against half million Cypriots. And about the bases ... do you know how much all that land worths? Do you know how much money we could have made from that land ... particularly the coast line? If it was good for us to have your bases in our island then why did you have to fight us and partner with the the Turks so you can steal that land from us? If it was good for us to have your bases we would have gifted them to you just like that. Every country in the world should give you bases if it is so beneficial and sensible

1. The topic is about: Why was Britain defeated by EOKA. I know it hurts you but stop trying to derail it.
2. God Bless the 250 non "sensible" EOKA fighters and their non "sensible" leader George Grivas Digenis who had the audacity to take up arms against the mighty  British empire in 1955 and finally humiliate it. And the hundreds of thousands of non sensible GREEK Cypriots who supported them and encouraged them.
3. You can have all your "sensible" neo Cypriot banana eaters (or grass hoppers if you like) and your "oriental gentlemen" and stuff them with your money. As our national hero Matsis said to his English torturers while in prison, when they offered him money in order to betray Grivas and save his skin: Our struggle is not for money. It is for VIRTUE (meaning, self respect and for proving ourselfs worthy of our GREEK heritage).

Oh and another thing:

The truly sensible GREEK Cypriots know, that thanks to the EOKA hero Tassos Papadopoulos, Cyprus was saved from extinction (Annan Plan), it became a full and equal EU member, and will soon be a major energy supplier to the EU. And by killing the Annan Plan he deprived YOU from stealing the natural resources of our south sea. So, you can stuff your BPs (meaning british pounds, not British Petroleum). And, by the by, as you "chaps" say. Will you ever pay the f**** rentals you owe us for your damn bases or what?

May I make it clear that I think that the SBA are an anchronism and control should be handed to to the lawful government of the ROC - any demands from the Tur*ish illegal occupying regime for any share of the land currently part of the SBA must be rejected.

I am not however going to apologise for what happened when I was not even 4 years old.

Fair enough.

But let me surprise you now. I think the bases should stay. Not as British bases. NO. But as EU rapid reaction bases. After all, the EU will have to protect its future major gas supplier won't it? And further, in a free Cyprus they can even serve as a kind of "security" for the Turkish Cypriots if they feel insecure. How about it?

Even better a division (about 10-12.000 strong). Part of it (a brigade or two) could be stationed in the TC area. That would make the TCs feel more secure. You know, from us, the savage GC murderous killers and all that.

The "mighty British Empire" was defeated because - contrary to their mentor's, Genghis Khan, proclamations that "Might is Right" ("Rasti Rousti" -inscribed on his ring) - the little people of Cyprus united and hit the greedy Brits where it hurt most. Their economy! Their pride!

Total War -as Grivas asked. The few EOKA activists joined by the whole Greek population in Passive resistance!
