Relations between the TRNC and the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation have reached a new high following last week’s visit to the OIC headquarters in Jeddah by TRNC President Dervis Eroglu, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is hosting an important forum for the country’s economy. The investment forum organized jointly by the TRNC Foreign Ministry and the OIC’s Islamic Development Bank kicked off this morning.
Islamic Development Bank's President Ahmad Mohamed Ali has called on investors in Islamic world to invest in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Speaking at a forum in TRNC today, Ali said that Cyprus was important in strategic, geographical and commercial aspects, adding that Cyprus was a door opening to Africa and Europe.
Ali said that investors attended the forum to see the business opportunities in Cyprus and not to miss them.
He noted that TRNC was appropriate to make investment as it had a talented and qualified labor force as well as good scientific and technological equipment.
Ali expressed hope that investments would begin in TRNC thanks to the forum.
The Islamic Development Bank's developmental assistance to the Muslim community in TRNC has reached more than 3 million USD comprising nine development projects covering education, Islamic teachings and investment support. The Bank has also granted eight scholarships to Northern Cypriot Muslim students in line with its Scholarship Program in support of minority Muslim communities in non-member countries since 1981.
