Hang on just a bleeding mo... isn't it Karpaz in Turkish ????

Bill,
Why on earth would an English man see Karpasia written on the map and spell Karpas?? Are there any old english maps of Cyprus naming Karpasia as karpas? I am just asking. I don't really know.

Well in colonial time sources have seen (years and years ago) refs to it as The Karpas Peninsular. I am going to search the BBC or GB Foreign Office sites (when I have time) cos you have now totally ruined my life cos have always called it Karpas (in English) and Karpasia (in Gr) ... :D

Correct me if wrong. are all the sitations are AFTER 1974??
Can we search for any prior? Look, I am not saying you are wrong. Just that the Turkish term of the territory is being spread unlawfully.

Bullshit, you are comparing the legitimate and human right to religious practice with the importation of illegal gypsies. What an arsehole you are when you cannot see the difference, perhaps the roc should return the favor and block any worship at the trekke hala sultan, in fact we should just blow the fucker uP and be done with it. You see two can play that game, moron.

As for names of towns, regions etc - can we (native Cypriots), actively default to the Greek forms, transliterated to Anglicized versions as necessary but retaining the true Greek forms (pre-invasion) as much as possible. We all know Turkey's strategy for subtle changes pre-acquisition. This is even more important on the Internet as we all know when Googling what comes up first due to over-representation (and Turks are extremely active).
