TURKISH CYPRIOT protesters yesterday charged the breakaway regime with implementing new measures to “torment” and treat like “cattle” those who wish to cross the buffer zone as part of a wider strategy to increase tension on the island and discourage intercommunal activity.

A few dozen protestors gathered north of the Ayios Dhometios checkpoint, surrounded and outnumbered by the regime’s security forces, to demonstrate against the implementation by the Turkish Cypriot authorities of stricter measures making movement in and out of the north increasingly lengthy and difficult.

As was expected, anything goes leading up to the 1/7/12. The turks cannot stomach the fact that little old Cyprus will be on an internation pedalstal and Turdkey is a nobody.

Yes ... deliberate stoking up of tensions by the Illegal Regime, desperate to exert a failing "authority" on CYs and another example of the Self-Segragation it has tried to impose since the early '60s in which they try to limit the freedom of movement of the CYs of the Occupied Areas.

the summer will be hot politically, and the Kibrisli i hope this time will rally with their confreres to demonstrate that there is a difference between "Turks" and Turks. and i hope that the Greeks will have the good sense to support this thinking with a similar demonstration that there exists Cypriots, and not just "Greeks".

This, according to CNA is what a leading trades unionist had to say about these barriers to free movement imposed by the Illegal Regime on the CYs of the Occupied Areas...
