IVI ADAMOU WITHDRAWS FROM EIC 2012 ‎

Postby CBBB » Tue Apr 10, 2012 6:22 am

Organizers at Eurovision in Concert 2012 announced that Cyprus 2012 Eurovision Song Contest representative, Ivi Adamou withdrew from the event set for April 21. There was no mention on the reason but we all can imagine it is financial one. Therefore 23 countries remain in the line up for the 4th edition of the event in Amsterdam. Organizers say they might add another country to the list.

Does this mean we won't be able to watch the Eurovision Song Contest? Shame!

That's a great shame. Is it too late to find a replacement?

[Otherwise, Cyprus is truly only represented by our one entry for the mainland, Greece. I want two. :) ]

Actually, I was just wondering if perhaps she has withdrawn as a protest against (spit) Azerbaijan, like our sister Armenia? :?

Interesting article

It’s argued that the most influential factor in the building of these ‘voting blocs’, is the passive cultural element, rather than any deliberate agenda to do with politics. For example, the Greeks and the Cypriots, who almost systematically exchange top or high points, do so because most Cypriots are ethnically Greek. The two populations share, as well as a language, musical traditions and tastes. A singer who is a household name in Greece will likely also be one in Cyprus, and vice-versa. In a similar way, Nordic musical preferences are not necessarily appreciated in the Latin, Mediterranean countries.
