These Nazi-style racial purity comments used to be printed on colour leaflets handed out to journalists entering the north in the mid-late 90s. They said the Turkish Cypriots were full-blooded Turks whose ancestors came with the Ottomans and stuff like that. I told the guy who gave me them that they were blatantly racist and unacceptable, but they were also laughable, crude propaganda demonstrating utter backwardness. It's depressing to see we're back to that level again but when yesterday's men keep getting into power in Cyprus, what can we expect?

Placing a saddle on a donkey does not make it a race horse, as we know from the GCs entering the EU.

...unfortunately for Cypriots, a donkey saddled as a race horse is still better than the best the "Turks" can offer.

We've all been aware of the underlying and ugliest of Racist and Apartheid base that underpins the Illegal Regime but to put it into proud print and make these atrocious views known to the World in leaflets given out to the Press in the way Eric describes and more or less repeated by the Spokesperson for the Settlers Eroglu in recent days says soooo much about the prospects for a settlement with this Racist Occupation Regime.

There is nothing pure about Cypriot blood , virtually every race and peoples nearby have made a contribution in one way or another . The differences between Cypriots can be accounted by culture , education and ignorance.

Please don't have a heart attack, but I would like to hear more on this issue. What position is AKEL taking and what would the amendments be?

I cannot fathom how Turkey and the TC's cannot see that EU actually recognises the whole Island as the Soveregin Nation of the RoC. surely that spells it clear what position Europe has taken. No shifting to desolve the RoC. The problem with the TC's is that they are unintelligent people who cannot see that not even Turkey is talking about or pushing for "trnc" recognition. They give them some encouragement now and then to keep them thinking she is there for their interests but not.

In the meantime they are becoming a minority of a diferent kind and socially and culturally less valued and recognised by the international community, this will eventually upon the day of reconciliation will be an added social and economic burden on the RoC

Anyway in short the amendments will be such that the Kibrislis get a clear minority status.
