A conundrum of a solution.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Liberation of Cyprus is worth the loss of EU veto:

I was quoting Papadopoulos when I said that veto is for the big fish. Really, the level of some forumers is embarrassingly low.

Here is my analysis of this thread.

The Hellenic Republic used its veto to get the Cypriot Republic into the EU and the Hellenic Republic should be congratulated for this.

BUT, the future of the Hellenic Republic remaining in the EU looks bleak, and the only thing that may prevent this from happening is a veto from the Republic of Cyprus.

However, this is where it might get messy. By using its veto, the Cypriot Republic exercising its veto on the Hellenic Republic, may bring about the downfall of the EU - exactly what the Turks want.

If the Cypriot Republic does not use its veto, and the Hellenic Republic is removed from the EU it's still a win-win because the Cypriot Republic can still use its veto to keep the Turks out and when the Hellenic Republic has sorted its economic affairs out the Cypriot Republic can use its veto to get them back in.

And here are the naked facts. Greece pushed for accession of Cyprus and the EU accepted provided we consented for solution because the EU did not want to adopt the Cyprus issue. We gave promises that solution was our cup of tea and that it was the other side that haulted the process of peace. The EU went into a fit after we sabotaged the efforts for solution. In fact the EU have regretted the fact that they allowed us into their exclusive club, big time.

This is correct, we did want a solution, but we were not going to accept any solution just to keep you and your turkish mates happy. You need to get your propoganda right, you are looking a complete moron with such statements, especially unqualified ones at that.

A solution yes, any old solution NO, geddit!
