Yes, let's get back to CY bridges.

Here is a typical example of what pass as bridges nowadays. You see so many of them. This one a few miles south of Nic.

A completely unattractive pile of culverts and concrete.

Just how much extra would it have cost to have done some calculations, put up some form-work and made a nice single-span arched bridge dressed with local stone...???

Yes, it's very very old but has a lovely keystone demonstrating the early engineering required for their construction. :D

Of course, this surviving one went over a small river. The larger ones, maybe older or later, probably have not survived as well as this compact version because of their larger size.

I'm always amazed when even one sample is available to marvel at. Humans are so destructive by nature.

WTF...!!! Our "g"IG are you seriously trying to pass off this pile of rubble (albeit with a keystone) with a hole through it as an arched bridge...??? ... :P

No wonder "g"IG did not include a picture!

I thought she was talking about a bridge, not a pile of rocks!

Only a cultural philistine would need a googled-picture to make him decide something built over 3,500 years ago does not look like the steel Meccano-construct of the likes of Sydney Harbour Bridge. :P

[Insulting the Arkadiko bridge only insults the later bridges of Cyprus (shame on you) as this was the blueprint or meme.]

Ooh! We now have the paranoid Hellene calling Cypriots cultural philistines to boost her ego and so that Greece can get one over Cyprus!

Yes I can see the Arkadeucians emailing the blueprint to a bunch of Cypriot peasants to build a little bridge over a seasonally dry stream! :P

Please stop insulting Cypriot ingenuity and innovation because they didn't miraculously transport those bridges from Akadeucia!

The Type of Structure used in the Arkadiko bridge, the Corbel Arch, was known in Ireland about 1500 years earlier, and in Egypt about a 1000 years before the Arkadiko bridge was built.
