No other event since the inception of the Republic in 1960 entrenches the statehood of Cyprus more than the EU presidency.
For six months all state functions of the EU will be carried out from Nicosia. Foreign ambassadors will arrive to do the ceremonial thingy with the Cypriot president. There is no political substance in the presidency, but there is so much formality, and it is the formality that flies in the face of the Turks denial of Cypriot statehood.
It is all this that makes Turkey go rabid. But like we say in Cypriot, Inda na kamoumen, etsi ehoun ta pramata!
One thing you all know for certain is that the Turks wont be there, wow when you think about it Turkey is telling the EU to go F herself, nice one
How long has it been since you entered the EU 8years and zilch must make you people crazy to think that you only entered as you thought they would solve your problems and give you the island on a plate...way to go Turkey they have stood up to the EU.
