Hi there,

I was born in the UK but am half Greek Cypriot, my fathers side is Greek Cypriot. I want to become a Cypriot citizen and I want to know information on joining the army in Cyprus, I cant find any information on this subject on the internet apart from discussion boards such as this. I just want to know if some one has some proper information for me about this. I don't mind about joining the army I just want to know as much as I can about this. And if anyone in the same situation or knows anyone who is to please help me! I am passionate about my routes and want to do something about it,

Admirable sentiments, Lawrence.

Don't worry about not speaking Greek (assuming you don't). One of my half-GC nephews did his military service without speaking any Greek. They placed him with a number of other Brit-Greeks and Aussie-Greeks and he made some very good friends.

If you phone the Embassy/HC in London they have an adviser you can speak to about the procedure.
