High Risk.

Postby fig head » Tue Mar 20, 2012 3:07 pm

As summer kicks is smoothly I decided to buy a motorbike/quad as it is cheaper to run (my car have a massive engine it drinks petrol and drains my pockets) I would keep the car and use the bike/quad to go to/from work.

I looked around, found few options, but I fell in love with this quad bike from the 1st sight, its amazing, pretty new, amazing condition and the price just fits with my budget, called my insurance to ask how much would it be to have it as a second insurance on my car they said we are sorry we cant insure you on this quad as it is a high risk quad????????

What do they mean by high risk its only 250 cc !!!

I called another insurance and they told me if you are not insured with us for the past three years(and as it is a high risk it would be 300 euros for 6 month) we cant insure you!!!!!

Seriously!!!! I have a clean driving record, never been in an accident, don't have one point on my licence but still its a HIGH RISK QUAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you have had experience with these machines Figgy, they can be quite dangerous particularly when you turn LEFT, I have seen many accidents with them although personally, I like to drive them.

I am not sure if that is the reason for higher premiums BUT, if you do decide to use one, please be extremely careful.

What is high risk is mostly your age. If you were older then the insurance would be lower. How fast can those things go anyway? They seem pretty slow!

They can go very fast, but some are unstable.

Get yourself a scooter, 50cc should do it. Safe enough.

If you really want to 'Cause a scene' as you move around, try out one of the 'Motorized Skateboards' that are on the market, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes (powered variously by gas, petrol and battery) capable of good speeds and , just the job for a bit of 'Young Fun' but no good for the 'Older more sensible members of society'.

What does it say about humanity / western civilization when people with perfectly good legs don't want to walk?
