He is also the Chairman of the Conservative Christian Fellowship and a trustee and active participant in his local church so I would say he is just the person to tell Turkey that he does not like what has happened to Christian churches in occupied Cyprus. There is a large Greek Cypriot community in his constituency, I imagine he wants to keep their vote.

There is an old 'Arabian Adage' which states that :-

"If you allow a Camel to put his 'Nose' in your tent,
he will soon have his 'Arse' in your tent and the tent will soon be unfit to live in"

(actually it says that the 'Tent' will be soon be covered in shite)

I think we have allowed the 'Camels' to reside in our 'Tent' for too long now and THEY should be forced to clear up their own mess and make restitution for that which they cannot clear.

Only fair really, considering the fact that they have become so well accustomed to living in the mess THEY have created. (imho)

The UK has been lately referred to as a "Nation that works against our interests" in official RoC announcements... It was about time I think.
We should NOT expect anything from the British. Their official Government proved time and time again they are against us,even for no valid or obvious reason. There is a hidden feeling of revenge in them because of the Eoka struggle. They have it in their records and they will never forget it.

No I don't think that's right Pyrpolizer. Don't confuse the official government attitude with that of a few pro-Cyprus MPs. There may be a few old Tory farts, some elderly Foreign Office civil servants and military that think that way but I believe the UK Govrnment's attitude to Cyprus is shaped by it's misguided belief that Turkeyis an important and trusted ally. The sad truth for Cyprus is that after the fall of communism Turkey's importance to NATO and the West was maintained by the problems with Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and more recently Syria.

I have met a few British MPs who are passionate about justice for Cyprus but none of them were or are in the Cabinet. The Greek Cypriots in the UK do themselves no favours, they need to hound their MPs into supporting their cause. My father was one of the few local GCs who persuaded Roger Gale MP to seek justice for Cypriots. There are dozens more that should be approached, if two or three were Ministers in the Cabinet I think you could see a shift in the UK Government's attitude.

Cleaning up CY from Turks & Brits would have been an even better initiative.

If the Brits hate Cypriots so much ask yourself hundreds of thousands of the tourists and tens of thousands of ex-pats choose Cyprus for holidays and retirement.
