Finally

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Finally

Postby Azeroglu » Thu Sep 22, 2005 8:29 pm

Someone spelled the word "apologize" the American way I noticed, as opposed to the Cypriot English way, "apologise"...I have doubts as to whether the author is living in Cyprus as he/she claims or is truly Cypriot...just I as I have doubts when I see American slang like "dude". Since I was skimming quickly through the posts, thought I'd mention that.

Armenian Cypriot

Postby Azeroglu » Thu Sep 22, 2005 8:59 pm

Who is the other clever Greek Cypriot who is already a member of the forum, and who created a new screen name "Armenian Cypriot" today, September 22? Hronia Polla to the so-called "Armenian Cypriot" born today, Sept. 22!

Azeroglu, you started a new thread to say how somebody spells a word?

English is not the native language of Cypriots so we can learn UK English, American English, Australian English or whatever. What does it matter?

If you just want to chat then use private messages or the general categories. This is not the place.

And an advice: chill. You are way too tense. This is a subject that you are not involved directly and know very little about. Talk less and read more to learn some things if you are interested.

What does this have to do with reaching a comprehensive settlement.

Azeroglu, before you carry on making an arse of yourself anymore...have you considered to think how slang manages to travel to various countries, with the help of music, film etc.

Do you know how many kids across the world talk in hip hop slang, because it is such a popular form of music....or do you know how many kids in London usu Jamaican patois words, just because it seems to be the in-thing.

and as for spelling, well Piratis is right...English is not the native language of Cyprus...and in Cyprus, there are American academy style schools as well as English ones.

Finally, why woyuld you call an Armenian Cypriot "so-called". Ive noticed many TC aged 25 and under (in the UK anyway) do not know there are small minorities of Armenian Cypriots and dont even know what Maronites are.
