Hands off Karpaz

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Let's get this right. Tell me if I've misrepresented you.

You seem to be saying that you won't attempt to stop the further destruction of the Karpaz area, even signing a petitition, because to do so would imply recognition of the TRNC and recognition of the TRNC would be the greatest of crimes ? That is your argument, isn't it ?

The fact that the Karpaz was predominantly Greek Cypriot and has been destroyed at least once already, and that Karpaz is a unique region to the island of Cyprus, to Cypriots as a whole, and to the entire eastern Med, and ..... none of this is more important than that you 'think' that by signing a petition you 'might' be 'recognising' TRNC ... are you serious ? That is just a very long and totally implausible excuse for doing nothing. It would be more honest of you just to say "I can't be arsed" or even "I don't think petitions work" but that recognition stuff is just baloney. Do you really think that Mr. Kucuk would be jumping up and down with glee having found Kurupetos' signature on a petition about the Karpaz, shouting "At last ! We've done it. We've been recognised by Kurupetos. That'll teach those guys trying to protect Cyprus' natural heritage. Send in the bulldozers - who cares, we're recognised by Kurupetos."

Don't sign it Kurupetos. No problem.

It's not my petition, but by all means start a petition for "Hands off Cyprus". Good idea, I'd sign it. (Kurupetos wouldn't sign a "Hands off Cyprus" petition either because it would imply recognition that TRNC had its hands on Cyprus to begin with, and that would be unacceptable leaving only criminals to sign your petition).

Yes mate... a bit of Unity is nice... if we could agree on a little common ground.

It wouldn't imply any such thing.

- Perhaps you haven't noticed, but there's 40,000 Turkish troops with their hands all over Cyprus. That's more than the surviving number of TCs!

Go on, start one with "Hands off TCs" :D

Or should that be: "Hands off, TCs"?

Actually I don't agree with most of the nonsense of the Greens, let aside other issues regarding petitions in general, and this one in particular. If it were upto the Greens they would drive us back to the bronze age.

Well agree with comment on petitions but we don't have to be tree-hugging, bean eating and card-carrying members of the Greens to be a little environmentally sensible in that the largely unspoilt Karpas is not the place for this sort of development, whether sought by Illegal Regime or the Republic.
