If Turkey decides to go ahead with annexation what is there to stop them. From a military point of view there is little anyone can do - after all Turkey already occupies the land. From a legal point of view the TRNC has no avenue to complain because they themselves do not hold good title. The outside world would see little difference. Whether annexation is justified on moral grounds towards the Turkish Cypriots would depend on what the actual agreed between the TC community and Turkey was in the 1950 when they helped to set up the resistance movement, and how this evolved in the 1960's when Turkey was supplying arms and other tactical support, and in 1974 when they agreed to invade and divide the island.

These Enosis/taksim/annexation things were always impossible.
Actually the 1974 Invasion aimed at annexation all along, until they realized it's impossible. The Turks and their local muppets might try giving it a last shot as the Greek Junta and their local coupists did in 1974, and that will be their own doomsday :mrgreen:

The northern Cyprus is illegally occupied by Turkey ... if they call it independent state or if they call it their province it doesn't make any difference to us! It is ours and they are illegally occupying it no matter how they call it!

Well, seems we will have happy days ahead, check this statement:

" Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that unless a solution to the Cyprus problem is reached by the 1st of July, Turkey would not resume its EU membership negotiations “even if 20 chapters were opened.”

The French, Germans, EU, including Cyprus would be rejoicing if this were true.
