Why does Cyprus have a President instead of a Prime Minister?

Being a monarchy Britain already has a head of state (the queen) so there can never be a president, but a prime minister to lead the government.

So you could say that in countries where there is no monarchy a president plays a dual role.

There are many countries where one has an elected President as Head of State and a Prime- Minister as head of Government through being the leader of the majority party - EG Russia, Turkey, France, wtc.,

Ron is getting sensitive, this "Jubilee year", with the number of countries coming out to depose the Queen as their Head of State. :D
