So what are the prospects for the next generation of young CYs being inspired to take up more of these Olympic sports mate, particularly track and field.
Anything likely to happen in time for Rio...???

Surprised, by the way, that CY hasn't got any world-class sail-boarders.

True, we have hundreds of kilometers of coast just waiting to be taken advantage of. Ideal climate. Water sports should technically be the national pass time.

And fishing/shipping should have been traditional/national professions for Cypriots but never were. That's because, unlike the islands of the Aegean, Cyprus land was quite reach in products and Cypriots did not have to take to the sea for a living. So now its all a matter of policy to encourage the youngsters.

Also track and swimming should/could be promoted.

And what the heck? Maybe with all that natural gas, we could even "buy" a few dozens of African, Asian and even European Athletes and incorporate them in our team like some "big boys" do! After all, in modern Olympics what counts is how many medals a country wins, not the ethnicity of its athletes. Right PCB?
