I must be the only one who never bothered to go pick them up despite receiving 2-3 phone calls from them!

I don't know what the fuss is all about...

it's about 1.3 Billion sat there waiting to be collected whilat still scrounging from the EU, I think we should all contact our MEPs and alert them to this continuing scandalous conduct of the Cypriot government, solicitors and developers.

No, not really… only about 15% of the funds the BoC plays with are/were invested in Greece. A 1.5 billion loss is unfortunate but very survivable for them. They and the Laiki are predominantly ME investors.

The BoC has not lost a cent! These are the profits it stood to make (over and above the ones it will still make) now that the generally unfair interest rates have been lowered.

Sadly I think you are going to get one hell of a shock when Greece goes down, the BoC will go down with them along with all banks in Cyprus.

They’ve all announced their losses…

BoC 1.5b
Laiki (Marfin) 2.5b
Hellenic 0.5b

...and the remaining Cypriot banks have not invested in Greece from what they claim.

I don’t know much about the Hellenic but the top two can just stop paying dividends for 3-4 years and they’re back to normal again because they shit money… they make close to half a billion euros clear profit p/annum!
