GREECE AND THE EUROZONE!

Postby bellamina » Mon Feb 20, 2012 2:05 pm

Why is Greece allowing itself to be pushed around by Germany et al, why don't the Greeks just tell them to go forth and go back to their Drachma, yes it will be painful and chaotic for a while but they will come out of their dire situation faster.

What has happened to this once proud nation that introduced democracy to the world, the country that gave us the finest philosphers, mathematians etc etc.

Have they just turned into an arm waving nation of cowards!

That’s where the problem lies!

Thanks to Greek aggrandizement propaganda, people have been falsely led to believe that modern Greece is a continuation of the famous ancient tribes and kingdoms of that region so they are now scratching their heads as to what went wrong!

In reality, modern Greece was formed in the 1830s out of a variety of regional peoples (including turncoat Ottomans) who mostly had nothing or very little to do with the famous ancients you mention, and as a new entity Greece has always been a poor performer in all major aspects so its nothing new.

You could say that Greece’s lies and propaganda have come around and bitten her on the bum!

I agree with all you have said, however, what gives Germany etc the right to bully other democratic sovereign nations into abject poverty and such stringent measures.

I think the Greeks should come out of the Euro and start over.

'The truth about Greece'

Some will agree, some will object.
GR and Co will undoubtedly find flaws, Yiallousa and co will certainly agree.

Well I agree, yes flaws probably can be found but the truth is out there for us all to see.

If Greece leave the Eurozone, they also have to leave the EU!!!

That would make things even more difficult for them.

Yes it would in the short term but staying within the Euro means they will suffer austerity for years to come, it will be less painful in the long run for them to get out now, plus they won't have the germans dictating terms to them.

Friendly answer, Cyprus wanted union with its motherland years ago, don't you have anything intelligent to add.
