And a new Turkish false flag operation being prepared?

Ankara warns against attack on tomb
ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News

Turkey has issued a warning that it will consider any assault on the tomb of Süleyman Şah, in Syria, as an attack on its territory.

“The tomb of Süleyman Şah [in Syria] and the land surrounding it is our territory. We cannot ignore any unfavorable act against that monument, as it would be an attack on our territory, as well as an attack on NATO land,” Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a televised interview late Aug. 5.

http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/ankara ... sCatID=338

P.S. 1 Under the same logic the whole of Turkey is "NATO land". Confessions, confessions!
P.S. 2 Who else would stage such a provocation if not those forces which are calling for the intervention of Turkey, i.e., the Turks themselves and the insurgents?

Syria Arrests Turkish Army General in Aleppo

TEHRAN (FNA)- The Syrian Army announced that it has recently apprehended a Turkish general who commanded the terrorists trying to seize control of Aleppo.

According to an informed source in Syria, the Turkish general was arrested during the Syrian Army's clashes with the terrorists in Aleppo.

News reports said that the Turkish general has been taken to Damascus for further interrogations.

Earlier, Turkish media also reported that Syria has detained 40 Turkish military officers in different parts of the country, and said that efforts to release them have failed.

Turkey along with the US, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have been supporting terrorists and rebel groups in Syria and have practically brought a UN peace initiative into failure to bring President Assad's government into collapse.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

In October 2011, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of increasing unrests in Syria.

Al-Qaeda thrives as US helps to 'flip' Syria

In Syria, the government's reportedly massing tens of thousands of troops, and columns of tanks around the commercial capital, Aleppo. The government's already pushed the last rebel forces from the capital, Damascus after 3 weeks of fighting there. As both sides rally reinforcements, large numbers of Al-Qaeda linked fighters are reportedly bolstering the opposition's ranks. And these groups are being supported by the US despite their extreme views and intentions.

Syrian army in full control of Aleppo’s Salahuddin

The Syrian army has taken full control of Aleppo’s Salahuddin district, forcing insurgents fighting against the government from the restive region.

According to Syria’s official news agency SANA, Syrian troops regained control of Salahuddin on Wednesday after days of heavy clashes with terrorist groups.

Fighting, however, continues between the Syrian army and the insurgents in several other areas of Aleppo, including the northern neighborhood of Ashrafyiah, the southern district of Sokkari and the central area of Seif al-Dowla.

Iran has proof of US admitting to terrorists presence in Syria: Jalili

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) says Tehran has evidence in which the US admits that terrorists have infiltrated Syria.

“Iran has in its possession confirmed and reliable documents of the US admitting to the presence of terrorists in Syria who have entered the country in order to fuel violence,” Saeed Jalili said during a press conference in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Tuesday.

“Those who think they can undermine Syria’s stability have made a terrible strategic mistake. The Syrian problem should be solved by the Syrians, not through military means,” Jalili added.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011. Damascus says ‘outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists’ are behind the unrest while the West and the opposition accuse the security forces of killing protesters.

Following his visit to Lebanon, Jalili arrived at Damascus International Airport on Tuesday and was welcomed by Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmad Arnous and Iran's Ambassador to Syria Mohammad Reza Sheibani.

During his visit, he conferred with senior Syrian officials including the country’s President Bashar al-Assad.

Referring to the abduction of Iranian pilgrims in Syria, Jalili said the Islamic Republic will make every effort to secure the abductees release and their safe return to Iran.

Forty-eight Iranian pilgrims, who were traveling on a bus from Damascus International Airport to the shrine of Hazrat Zainab (AS) on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus, were abducted by insurgents on August 4.

not sure that Presstv can be considered a very reliable source bearing in mind it appears to be Iranian funded /run and with a clear interest in running an anti-western (USA/Turkey/Saudi) bias.

This puts a different light on what is happening in Syria! Apparently regime change and civil war in Syria has been on the UK/US agenda for years, in fact since the time of the Suez crisis.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=32254

The power is and always has been, in the hands of the people. We CAN change what is happening, not just in Syria but every where else. Will it happen? Of course not, because 99% of the population believe what they read in the news papers and see on TV or are more interested in reality TV or football than in the reality of life. By the time they realise how untenable their lives have become .................. it WILL be too late.

Also sound piece of journalism from Global Research that makes sense to me!

THE WORLD CANNOT AFFORD MORE VICTIMS OF WAR.

The threat of war against Syria and Iran has been consuming headlines for weeks, accompanied by ever more sensationalist lies by the mainstream media. The tensions are high and the outlook is grim. As Michel Chossudovsky wrote:

"A sophisticated and all encompassing propaganda program supports war in the name of World peace and global security.

The underlying scenario of Worldwide conflict goes far beyond the diabolical design of Orwell's 1984.

The Ministry of Truth upholds war as a peace-making undertaking by twisting realities upside down.

In turn, the lies and fabrications of the mainstream media are presented with various innuendos in a complex web of deceit
."

The temptation to view this tense political atmosphere as doomed is high. Indeed, today's modern weapons systems know no bounds in their potential for carnage and destruction, and we have some very dangerous leaders (many of whom have been "democratically" elected) poised at the triggers. They are, after all, the ones who stand to profit from taking us into the next World War.

This is exactly the reason why we must not unplug, tune out or look away. The world cannot afford more victims of war. There ARE steps to take, and they require mass mobilization. As Finian Cunningham wrote:

"War is not inevitable. It is an ineluctable outcome of capitalist power rivalry, which history has shown us time and again. But it is not inevitable. The way to stop another world war is for the mass of people to put an end to the capitalist system. That means bringing governments, banks, industries and militaries under public, democratic control on the basis of internationalist solidarity. We got nothing to lose except our chains."

Awareness of what is happening in the world around us is a crucial first step. Don't automatically trust the news you read - question it; check the sources; follow the money. And more than anything, keep the dialogue going and spread the message to those around you. The tools are all there - newsletters, social media, videos - so let's get creative and put them to good use.
