I read Akincis response to criticism of his silence about the invasion of Syria as trying to be very diplomatic. It seems to me that if no one criticized his silence on the issue or pressed him for his position, he would have remained silent.

He has not out-rightly condemned the invasion (like Stassi has repeatedly) and he is also being careful not to seem like he supports it either.

He only speaks up when it involves things like plastic bottles being thrown at Tc coaches in the south or to share in the RoC's business dealings.

In this article, he refers to himself as a Turkish man....

Try posting things most of us can read.

yep and that comes from your and the writers ignorance of the terggish language. if you don't understand at least get some advice about the translation. you idiot

here is what he said.

he was 27 in 1974 and after the fascist junta from greece caused the crisis during the intervention of terggy just like all other terggish cypriot young men i accepted the responsibility to defend.

kibrisli turk translation is terggish cypriot.

you stupid boy. does that sound as though he said as a tergg. stupid you stupid boy.

i mean its not as if the letters are like your stupid griik letter which are just backwards and unreadable. if you cannot make out what kibrisli turk means please accept my appologies. you are not stupid becasue to call you stupid is an insult to all stuid people. you are beyond that. far far away.

Blah blah blah, insults insults and more insults.

"Erdogan, during a news conference on the Syria offensive publicly called out Akinci for his comments saying the Turkish Cypriot leader had gone beyond his limits and needed to know his limits."

Because he is a puppet.

Bye.

US President Donald Trump has promised to work with both parties in Congress to hit Turkey with “powerful sanctions,”

Trump tweeted on Sunday.

“Treasury is ready to go, additional legislation may be sought. There is great consensus on this. Turkey has asked that it not be done. Stay tuned!”

This all reminds me when the USA gave Saddam the green light to invade Kuwait back in 1991 before getting half a million allied soldiers together to kick Saddam out of Kuwait and destroying his military power at the same time.

Let see if history is about to repeat itself, except it may well be Erdogan this time.

I never thought about that ..... you could well be right! Erdogan has been a naughty man and has not done what his master has told him to do .... so he has to be punished for his impudence .... otherwise others could start looking out for their own interests as well? But I think the days of amassing a huge military force are long gone and to use them against Turkey would be very difficult, especially for members of NATO?

Maybe the US or Israel will supply the Kurds with nuclear weapons? I think it would be a wise move for the TRNC to declare itself neutral and ask the Turkish forces to leave?

...I must say, this has caused quite a controversy among "Turks", not just in Cyprus, but in Turkey.

Indeed, Akinci (n.b. not Eroglu) won his Presidency with a clear majority, and this electorate still exists, (silent).

Essentially if such a comment, a wish for Peace and reason, (a reaction to the criticisms he received for remaining silent,) causes such a stir in Turkey, and in the occupied territories in Cyprus, it proves my point, he holds a massive amount of power in his grasp, if, at one point he speaks, not for "Turkishness", but against it, not for "Turkish Cypriots", but for who elected him as a Cypriot, Cypriots who are Turkish.

...it is not hard to say, (all) Cypriots condemn this operation for its violence; this is true.

It is not hard to see that Turkey, at least Erdogan's Turkey, demonstrates no tolerance for diversity among Turks, or of the Turkish People (witness the Kurds at present, witness the Alevi and their relation with the State, witness the state of other constituencies in Turkey like the Greeks and Armenians).

Those not "Turkish", are, the adversary in effect/affect.

...interesting times.

I think it is a pretty good gestimate.

As some might say, Erdogan's Turkey has been cruising for a bruising for a while. It was just a matter of time before his antics reach a combustion point with everyone he has been antagonizing, threatening and blackmailing.

Now the guy has taken his biggest gamble yet but is also spread thin politically, financially and militarily. The whole country is on the verge of bankruptcy and the man goes and starts a war.

Russia and the US will collude and keep him tied up for their own reasons. Russia and trump both have their own scores to settle and I am confident everyone wants to see the back of him.

If it comes down to it, those troops in northern Cyprus would leave to save Turkeys neck elsewhere.

The "TRNC" would collapse and people like Bordo will be on a dingy to Mersin.

Oh The Irony,

you are taking it out of context. saddam attacked oil fields and was told to pull back and he refused.

terggy on the other hand has attacked a bunch of carrot fields. they are not of the same value to the west. in fact 20 miles seems to have been agreed by the american for the advance of the terggish army and the american soliders have pulled back 20 miles and parked their jeeps waiting for their terggish commanders to arrive and even have the kettle on for a bit of terggish tea. i think it is demli cay they prefer. where is the problem in that?

He is/was erdogans mouth piece,

Thats how puppets work.

Now Tatar sauce is going to discuss his resignation on Monday because the puppet master in Ankara is having none of it.

He wants a new puppet.

Akinci might become a fugitive to avoid Erdo's brainless lynch mob.

Akinci will be seeking refuge in and among the people he wants to be separate from in the RoC and begging them for forgiveness.

What a state of affairs a?
