The Pentagon has just said that the US has effectively shut off Syria's airspace in northern Syria, reducing the possibility of Turkish fighter jets supporting the invasion.
One minute, the media makes you believe that the US has abandoned the Kurds and given Erdogan free reign to run amok in northern Syria. The next day, Trump is tweeting that he will decimate the Turkish economy if there is any attack on the Kurds..
Personally, i think Erdogan is being drawn in to a long and drawn out battle that he will never win.
he is a dangerous man that will bring thousands of Turkish soldiers back home in body bags. Then become a fugitive or hang himself.
I agree with you. I think the US is setting a big trap for Turkey to enter Syria, since NATO will not protect Turkey in Syria. I am not sure the Turks are going to be in a hurry to enter Syria. They must be trying to evaluate what the USA is up to, but for sure, it is not to favour the Turks. As you stated, with the airspace over the NE Syria being closed to the Turks, it is not going to be a walk in the park for the Turks. USA has been arming and training the YPG to the teeth the last few years and has been stalling the Turks for the last couple of years from attacking the YPG, and just overnight, Trump pulls back just a little from the Turkish border to invite the Turks to come in if they want, this raises red flags to me, and now that Erdogan has stated over and over again that he will come into the YPG controlled area, he is now committed to do just that. Basically he is now cornered, so let’s see what he does. Personally, this was the chess game Russia and the USA has been playing on Turkey. As to when the check-mate on Turkey is going to be, I don‘t know.
