If the UN commission concludes that this was a false flag and the rebels are responsible for this latest chemical attack (which I believe they are) then fingers will start being pointed at two faced lying "main agitator" Turkey.

The rebels have been mixing nerve agents with chemicals supplied by a Turkish company called Tekkim.

The west's attempt to get Turkey involved in the Syria for the last 2 years may happen very soon. Turkey has resisted being pushed into a war in Syria because the costs can be very high, but at present not much going in Erdogan's direction from politics to the economy, he will try the war thing with Syria and hope for the best for him and Turkey. We know that Turkey has no convictions but only an opportunists, which is why if I were Erdogan, I would be very careful in trusting my friends in the West who are pushing Turkey into war with Syria, because the west also has plans for Turkey's eventual break up to solve other major problems in the region from the Kurds to Armenians to Cyprus. For the west, it may want to kill as many birds as possible with one stone or a cruise missile, and Syria may well be the catalyst to do just that!

Robert Fisk
Tuesday 27 August 2013

Does Obama know he’s fighting on al-Qa’ida’s side?
‘All for one and one for all’ should be the battle cry if the West goes to war against Assad’s Syrian regime
If Barack Obama decides to attack the Syrian regime, he has ensured – for the very first time in history – that the United States will be on the same side as al-Qa’ida.
Quite an alliance! Was it not the Three Musketeers who shouted “All for one and one for all” each time they sought combat? This really should be the new battle cry if – or when – the statesmen of the Western world go to war against Bashar al-Assad.
The men who destroyed so many thousands on 9/11 will then be fighting alongside the very nation whose innocents they so cruelly murdered almost exactly 12 years ago. Quite an achievement for Obama, Cameron, Hollande and the rest of the miniature warlords.
This, of course, will not be trumpeted by the Pentagon or the White House – nor, I suppose, by al-Qa’ida – though they are both trying to destroy Bashar. So are the Nusra front, one of al-Qa’ida’s affiliates. But it does raise some interesting possibilities.
Maybe the Americans should ask al-Qa’ida for intelligence help – after all, this is the group with “boots on the ground”, something the Americans have no interest in doing. And maybe al-Qa’ida could offer some target information facilities to the country which usually claims that the supporters of al-Qa’ida, rather than the Syrians, are the most wanted men in the world.

Maybe they should rename ' The War Against Terror' to 'The War With Terror'. :)

Russia had better support her allies or she risks a great downfall in terms of global political influence and arms trade.

Dozens of countries that have invested in Russian defense systems (Cyprus included) expect them to be present in Syria against a US attack and for them to perform!

I hope Putin realizes just how much hangs from this debacle.

President Obama has just declared his opinion (on BBC news) that "In view of the evidence it is certain that the Assad regime is responsible for the recent gas attack".

Rather a strange announcement to make at this point since the UN inspectors (currently in Damascus) have not yet made their findings known, nor will they present their evidence until the week-end.

UN chief awaits Syria chemical weapons probe, West waits
13 hours agoPoliticsSyriaChemical weaponDamascus

UN chief Ban Ki-moon said Thursday his investigating team would report back this week on suspected chemical weapons attacks in Syria as the US and its allies held back from immediate military action.
US President Barack Obama said he has yet to sign off on a plan to strike Syria over the horrific attacks last week that activists say killed hundreds of people and threatened to draw the West into the brutal 29-month conflict.
A Western bombing blitz had appeared imminent earlier this week, but US allies were increasingly reluctant to act before hearing the results of a UN probe into the alleged poisonous gas attacks.
Ban said the UN chemical weapons experts -- who headed out to one of the attack sites near Damascus for the third day of inspections -- would leave Syria by Saturday and report to him immediately.
He appealed to divided international powers to work together to head off military action in Syria, where the UN says 100,000 people have been killed and several million made homeless since the conflict erupted in March 2011.
"Diplomacy should be given a chance ... peace (should) be given a chance," Ban said, adding that he had spoken to Obama about the situation.
With any US-led missile strike unlikely to have UN Security Council backing, key Damascus allies Russia and Iran again warned against any Western intervention, saying it could set off a wider regional conflict.
Syria's nervous neighbours have already stepped up preparations for conflict, with Israel authorising a partial call-up of arm reservists while Turkey put its forces on heightened "vigilance".

Russia was reportedly sending warships to the Mediterranean, while Britain said it was sending fighter jets to the strategic island of Cyprus.

And here is the coward opportunist, Davutoglu, lurching in the background, calculating the establishment of the "Turkish Republic of Northern Syria".

No, IMO he's just trying to avoid another autonomous Kurdistani state, like Iraqi Kurdistan.

Eventually all Kurdistani states could unite and form an independent country (also on the expense of Turkish territory).
