 Paphitis:
The Coalition will not force anything on any group. But it depends on who you are talking about.

If you are talking about DAESH, then we treat them as terrorists and we will fight them and seek a swift military solution. They do not enjoy the support of the people.

As for other Sunni Rebels, everyone recognizes their rights to life and existence and their voice within the Syrian Republic including it seems Russia.

It is encouraging to hear that Russia is grappling with the prospect of transition to bring peace and stability. If this attitude prevails, then a deal with the Coalition is imminent.

If it does not prevail, then there will be no peace or stability, just war.

So, at long last you have realised that it is you that has been out of step all this time and are now changing your tune? Only NOW are you are praising Putin for his long standing insight into the Syrian conflict and its obvious solution ?

I have to admit .... you do a wonderful ‘about-face’ ..... you should have been a politician ! You rolled in horse sh*t and now rise .... attempting to smell like roses? Don’t think so ..... with you it's all 20-20 hind sight!

Pootin is an arse. We only tolerate him for as long as he understands his status.

Basically, we gave him an inch and he pushed for a mile. Now he is in a quagmire which the Coalition has a lot of control over.

The choice is simple. We are eager to cooperate with him to pave the pace way to transition and regime change. All the signals point in that direction. That is the Coalition's position and has been our position all along. Pootin, as we understand it is ready to to accept that with some preconditions. The reason is, he doesn't want indefinite war in Syria.

You are becoming more and more absurd with every post mate.
It has been .....your position
Mate, you have bugger all to do with any position, you are not running the coalition, you are, just like everyone else a mere observer.
By the way, the Obama administration has dropped " regime change" long ago.
Trump will co operate with Russia and abandon those that Trump says" we do not know who they are". Face it mate. You have been hysterically wrong on Syria. Peace will be restored soon and Assad will be around .
Mate, do these reports mean nothing to you?
" Donald Trump signifies he will end US support for Syrian rebels despite their pleas to him for help
President-elect appears to reiterate his position that an alliance with Syrian and Russian governments to defeat Isis is his preferred way forward in the Syrian conflict "

No coalition will not cooperate with Russia with anything other than a comprehensive peace deal.

You will see, that nothing at all will change as far as US Foreign Policy is concerned because the truth of the matter is, America just hunt abandon its geostrategic importance in the Middle East or anywhere else and its allies won't let Trump either.

We are talking about NATO, EU, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, South Africa, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Brunei, Malaysia, and so on and so on.

I can give you a hundred links. It has been our consistent position.

The Coalition will not fight a 20 year war to keep Assad in power (plus he is a war criminal) and neither will Pootin.

OK, seen it. Where exactly does it say that " coalition will not cooperate with Russia with anything other than a comprehensive peace deal. "
Paphitis, act your age mate. Don't just post and attribute your views on the coalition.
Any other links, or are they the same ?

Miltiades,

A comprehensive peace deal is critical to peace in Syria. There will be no peace without one or without a roadmap to transition.

The Sunnis will not cower to Assad under any circumstances. All sides of the conflict know this except Assad. That means Pootin can see the reality too.

Don't tell me to act my age. If there is no peace settlement, then hundreds more thousands will die and there is no victory in sight for either the regime or Pootin. Russia will not back itself into such a corner from which there is no escape.

Btw, the UN Special Envoy did say on HardTalk that Pootin is keen to discuss transition at the Syria Group. He also said that some preconditions will need to be met but didn't elaborate. One think he mentioned was turning Syria into another Libya so perhaps the Russians will want their troops to be mobilized in Syria to help maintain security which I doubt the Coalition will take issue with.

Paphitis:

Are you really that stupid? There will be no peace in Syria until the US stops supplying terrorists with weapons. With Trump, that day will be very soon. That is the day that the 'peace' process will start and Assad and Russia will send your terrorists to Paradise. Unfortunately it will take time .... but your terrorists seem set on taking a lot of innocent civilians with them. But then YOU would know all about how difficult it is to avoid civilian casualties, because that is exactly what YOU are doing in Iraq .... Mosul to be more specific. You just don't post the facts. :x

You will see, that nothing at all will change as far as US Foreign Policy is concerned because the truth of the matter is, America just hunt abandon its geostrategic importance in the Middle East or anywhere else and its allies won't let Trump either.

US foreign policy will restrict itself to defeating Daesh, or at least degrading its ability to fight a war. Then you will have the IS domestic terrorism to contend with from those you do not manage to kill and sectarian conflict because you have Iraqi Sunni's, Iraqi Shia, Kurds and Turkey all fighting for the same bit of turf to bring under their control. You are back to what YOU had before the formation of Daesh.

We are talking about NATO, EU, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, South Africa, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Brunei, Malaysia, and so on and so on.

Really ......then you have chosen bad bed fellows! Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain, are all supplying Daesh with weapons, as well as the hundred or so terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq. Turkey is the conduit for the foreign Jihadi terrorist and the route for the chemical weapons they are using. They are also war criminals, especially Saudi (your great Arab friends) for their war on Yemen. NATO are also war criminals for the same reasons and the EU doesn't have a Military. Most of the others pay lip service with a couple of aircraft, if that, except for the UK who seem to be on constant missions, but as I have said before, they may be honest and diligent in their endeavours but they are fighting an illegal cause ..... at least in Syria.

It was a 1 hour discussion and he said he does not believe US policy on Syria will change and that in fact the discussions he has had with the Russians, he denied that Russia is against regime change.

He said that Russia doesn't want another Kibya and wants a clear road map which won't lead to another Libya, and that their view on regime change is that it is inevitable.

Btw, Trump has just agreed to take 1800 Australian Asylum seekers, mostly Muslim. Australia will be left with about 300 incarcerated illegal immigrants.

So what did the Americans get in return. The answer is Troops.
