...i know what it is like to share a view with very very few people.

...as for Paphitis, i will call him a grinder, a guy who climbs the stairs every day, 23 stories; is it because of the energy he will expend, or is it the energy expended, that gives him his ability to compete?

(more kinetic equals more potential; or the other way around)

...both Patriotic, i'd say the doctor and him, same coin different sides. As for Robin Hood, mashala ta tantera sou, un foie en folie.

sorry, off topic. cheers.

...so called IS kicking ass, what's left of them with no free ride.

The Coalition's plans are known and they are transparent.

They have made their plans known within The Syria Support group Summits and their actions on the ground in Syria.

We will NEVER be cooperating with Pootin at the military level until there is a comprehensive peace settlement and under no circumstances will our Military be allowed to cooperate with Assad's Regime forces under ANY circumstances because we consider him a war criminal. Our forces will NEVER collaborate with War Criminals.

On the ground, Coalition has started an offensive against Raqqa. Our intentions are clear.

In case you didn't know, our rebels took entire suburbs from the regime. 12 months of relentless bombardment, have not dampen their resolve or their capabilities.

And that means, Assad's entire Aleppo campaign is in tatters.

Latest news from 'Mosul'...........IS are kicking arse !.

No they are not actually.

They are just targeting our Hummers with Suicide bombers and car Bombs on the side of the road.

They are just slowing our forces down is about all. And we always knew some resistance will occur and we also know about the Human Shields.

That's kicking arse ! , if they had the same armaments as those that oppose them, they would be in complete control BUT, give them time, ill-equipped as they are, the "Caliphate" is at hand. 8)

Paphitis ...... latest news from Mosul ........

Mosul battle: 'Iraqi forces' tortured and killed villagers

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-37930402

Oh dear .........YOUR well trained troops seem to be taking it out on the locals .... what happened to. ‘ WE, the coalition, don’t kill civilians.’ ?

'Crashing waves' of jihadists fray soldiers' nerves in Mosul battle

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-iraq-battle-idUSKBN1350GB

Well trained eh? Once the going gets tough the tough get going. Nothing has changed .... the only thing giving YOUR Iraqi coalition troops confidence ..... is YOUR air power! But it is also killing scores of civilians ..... do you think that is ‘deliberate’ or several ‘ unfortunate accident's’ ?

Crucifixions and vice patrols show Islamic State maintains Mosul grip

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-iraq-city-idUSKBN1341UJ

It is all fine whilst YOUR well trained Iraqi’s can fire mortars and howitzers at a distant enemy ..... but when it comes to face-to-face fighting the Iraqi troops, led by the officers, will do what they did a couple of years ago .......... leg it for their own safety.

So .... on the evidence, I think Schnauzers observation that your ' well trained Iraqi troops ' are getting their asses kicked', is a reasonable description?

Considering the coalition forces are still only in the outer suburbs of Mosul, I wonder how many more will be killed when it comes to urban warfare proper and are having to deal with civilian hostages? Of course, when Assad/Russia were faced with this dilemma, the ‘Holier than Thou’ Brigade (We don’t deliberately kill civilians, bomb hospitals and schools !!) were very quick to start accusing them of war crimes.

Now the boot will be on the other foot ...... the reality of having to fight an almost invisible enemy that blends in with civilians and hides in homes, schools and hospitals comes to the fore. It will be interesting to read how Paphitis WE, will attempt to justify the mounting civilian slaughter ! Maybe, they will drop leaflets asking IS politely to surrender?

If the US coalition stops bombing on humanitarian grounds ......... then the Iraqi forces will run for it.

I think you are completely unrealistic.

Coalition is very happy with the progress so far, and no one is going to be sending our Iraqi troops towards death. There are Australian and American Military advisors within the Iraqi Command, and each advance is carefully planned and executed.

They were expecting resistance and they believe it will intensify as DAESH get more desperate. Iraqi Units are very close to the city center and they are going street to street.

DAESH are very much on the back foot.

In addition, there is a Kurdish Advance from the North and other Rebel Groups are cutting off the approaches from the West preventing any retreat towards Syria.

DAESH are losing territory by the day.

Coalition is a long way from being a failure at this point.

Paphitis:

I think it is you are completely unrealistic and rather presumptive in your predictions. As I told you way back, taking Mosul is like nothing your Iraqi’s have ever faced. No matter what you say they are still a long way (on foot) from Mosul City, so I am afraid your claim they are conducting street by street combat is highly unlikely.

Try reading this and studying the maps .... it will show you what these Iraqi troops are up against. Even if they drive IS out or exterminate them, as I told you previously, your problems are only just beginning!

Explaining Mosul in Five Maps -By George Friedman and Jacob Shapiro - October 31, 2016

To sum up: the battle for Mosul is going to take a long time. It is going to be a bloody affair and a textbook example of urban warfare once Iraqi forces actually reach the city. IS is at a severe disadvantage in terms of the number of fighters and material, but IS is in a highly defensible position and has no place to retreat. The sectarian issues that plague Iraq as a whole have been put aside in an attempt to drive IS out. But if the coalition is successful, these sectarian issues will reassert themselves.

Mosul has practically already fallen. It's just a case of flushing all the remaining DAESH terrorists out.

The Coalition has been preparing this operation for 2 years. It's not something we just jumped into like Rambo, unlike Pootin with Aleppo and even after way more than a year the Syrians have been unable to enter into the city. Each time the come, they retreat with many casualties.

We are doing just fine Robin Hood but thank you for your concern. Our operations in Mosul have been going barely 1 month and yet so much has been achieved and going according to plan. In fact, we have exceeded expectations so far.

So don't worry. Coalition is not worried. Iraqis are not worried.

To the north we have just liberated the last town into Mosul in a Kurdish Operation which killed 150 DAESH fighters. We are doing just fine thank you for your concern.
