He's an idiot. According to wiki, Greece ranks 140th out of 170 countries for suicides. That's lower than most developed countries (Sweden, USA, UK, France etc) including Cyprus (128th).

In addition, I'm not talking about 2016 data, but older data back between 2010 to 2012 where Greece had a huge spike.

My source (WHO via wiki) is for 2012!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_c ... icide_rate

That is suicides per 100,000 people per year.

Greece = 3.8 people commiting suicide per year per 100,000 people.

Thats about 420 people a year from a population of about 11 million people.

Which is about 0.0038% suicide rate in Greece for 2012 data.

It actually climbed to as high as 8.81/100000.

And 8.58 the following year for certain age groups.

Well then the wiki data in incorrect or incomplete. You find me the WHO source and directly link to it and I will believe you, but this date given by a Greek data seems to be very legitimate and well researched to me.

And you are an idiot!

I never once said that there will ever be a million suicides in Greece, that is the global estimate by WHO.

I agree. It's the idiot that estimated one million per year.

For the entire planet not Greece.

I promised I wasn't going to insult you, but it is you that is the idiot because I said it was the global estimate 3 times now!

Maximus wrote:That source also goes back 30 years from 2015 which puts the figure at 6.1 people per 100,000 people per year committing suicide in Greece.

So that is about 0.006% suicide rate per year for the past 30 years in Greece.

Read the data.

This equates to 19,230 Greeks committing suicide each ....week
An ...astonishing number per day of 2747
Or 114.46 per ...hour!!

Undertakers must be making a fortune !!

And here we have another idiot!

I said it is the global estimate.

use your common sense. I never said Greece will have anything remotely near that many suicides as that is clearly impossible. that is the global statistic.

I said Greece had 10,000 suicides over a 3 year period between 2010 and 2012.

Over a ...million every year !! Is this the number worldwide or just for Greece ?

Worldwide!

A million in Greece would be 10% of the entire population. I only attributed 10,000 suicides in Greece due to economic circumstances and austerity as well as unemployment. A body count that isn't insignificant given that Greece only had 6500 military losses fighting the Italians in WW2.

geez Miltiades, use your common sense! You're getting too old.

It's not something anyone should feel ashamed about, or take it as any criticism. most countries are trying to address this pandemic. it's literally a pandemic. Too many people are committing suicide, far more than most diseases, and Ebola.

And the only way to address it is to spend big money on mental health programs and initiatives and increase Health spending and also to make people aware of these issues and to be on the lookout through your family and networks.

Look out of the window ...... do you see the white van with blacked out windows and those men in White Coats? :? 'They're coming to take you away ... away ... they're coming to take you away' !!! :o  If I were you I would keep a very low profile.

Yes well I think the white van better turn its attention to Pyrgo, because we are still waiting for the impending fall of Aleppo for a long time now.

Geez, sometime before retirement will be good!

It seems that it was on the ground because of a technical problem and the terrorists fired an anti-tank missile at it. The crew of two escaped without injury and returned to base. :D

And who in there right mind is going to land anywhere near ISIL with technical problems?

This are twin turbined aircraft. what kind of "technical problems"?

they sustained battle damage of some kind, and had to land. Then ISIL finished it off as expected.

And if ISIL finished it with an anti tank missile, how the hell did they escape on foot if ISIL were only about 1500m away?

can you hear the sirens yet. White van is on its way. just hold tight and tell your better half to tie you up so as to avoid self harm.

Apart from the USA NO OTHER NATION demanded , strenuously, the removal of Assad . You are thoroughly obsessed with Russia and Putin .

The war is against the enemy of the entire world, ISIS, its NOT against Assad.

Detach your self from the insatiable hatred you exhibit for Russia and be objective, then some might take you seriously. Right now, on this forum, not a single member shares your views. Ask your self why.

He can't detach himself from that hatred, it is what dictates 90% of his posts!

The US created ISIS, so why would they want to destroy it as it has served them well. Without IS the US coalition would have no reason to be in Iraq and Syria (Syria illegally of course) But the US call for regime change i.e. Assad must go!' has been attenuated to 'Transition' ..... same sh*t different ident! It will not happen as the Syrian people want Assad not the US coaliion's preferred candidate which is ..... er, well they will work that out later like they did in Libya, (Another monumental cock-up by ' The US led coalition'!)

Oh dear! yet i am the only one who remains true to my convictions rather than be a purncoat against my own country.

I also know, that Pootin can't be trusted.

It also appears that our presence in Syria will continue for a very long time. we are in it for the long haul now, and we don't need any permission from war criminals because their authority is compromised.
