The usual reminder...

All the reports we have seen so far, of what allegedly happened, how the passengers were allegedly treated, of what was allegedly found etc etc are sourced from Turkey ... believe not a word.

Any national authority wanting to ship "walkie-talkies" or "missile parts" need only put alleged said items in Green Diplomatic Bags.

So yes, no amount of rubbish Turkish spin can detract from the only important fact, which is that a Russian commercial airliner and its Russian passengers were hi-jacked by agents of the Terrorist State of Turkey.

An act of PIRACY!!!

Syria: UK troops also in Jordan, Western diplomatic sources

After Panetta confirmed US task force; possible French presence

11 October, 19:07

(ANSAmed) - AMMAN, OCTOBER 11 - Several hundred British soldiers and military advisors are in Jordan to monitor the Syria situation, Western diplomatic sources said on Thursday.

This follows on a statement by US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta at a meeting of NATO defense ministers yesterday that a US military task force is in place along the Jordan-Syria border to monitor Syrian chemical weapons and to help Jordan manage the war refugees pouring over the border.

The task force consists of 150 personnel, according to the New York Times, while The Times of London reported on an undisclosed number of British troops. The troops have been in Jordan since participating in joint military maneuvers in the past months. They remained on concerns over Syria's chemical weapons arsenal, Jordanian military sources said, adding that French troops might also be in place.

A close political and security Western ally, Jordan receives 500 million dollars in US military aid a year, and its intelligence services cooperate closely with those of the US.

Syria bans Turkish planes from its airspace in tit-for-tat move

Syria has decided to prohibit Turkish passenger planes from flying over its territory in retaliation against Ankara’s decision to ban Syrian flights from Turkish airspace.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said the decision, "in accordance with the principle of reciprocity," was in retaliation for Turkey's decision to halt Syrian civil aviation flights over its territory, the SANA news agency reported.

The statement added that the move was to take effect at midnight (2100 GMT) on Saturday.

“The Syrian government regrets the Turkish government's provocative decision, which primarily targets the interests of the Syrian people,” it added.

The Syrian announcement comes three days after Turkish F-16 fighter jets intercepted a Syrian Airbus A320 flying over Turkish airspace and escorted it to Ankara’s Esenboga Airport.

En route from Moscow to Damascus, the plane was reportedly carrying 35 passengers on board, including 17 Russian nationals.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said the decision was made based on information that the aircraft might be transporting “certain equipment in breach of civil aviation rules.”

The Turkish authorities allowed the plane and its passengers to leave Ankara nine hours after landing, but they seized part of the cargo.

The move irked Russia, which demanded that Turkish officials provide an explanation, and infuriated Damascus, where the transport minister condemned Ankara’s move as an act of “air piracy [which] contradicts civil aviation treaties.”

Syria has demanded that Ankara return the confiscated equipment and pay compensation for grounding the airplane.

Syrian aviation officials have also vowed to pursue the case and to make a formal complaint about the Turkish action in international fora.
