Turkeys reaction to the Syrian shelling and the killing of 5 civilians was not excessive and understandable given the fact that every sovereign nation has an absolute right to defend its citizens and its territory. I hope that Turkey does not carry out the wishes of the West in this instance. Syria must be left alone to solve its own problems, Russia, in my opinion as well as China are absolutely right in not supporting the revolutionaries infested with Islamic extremists and Jihadis. The West is making a dreadful error in contributing financially to the revolutionaries aided and abated by extremist Islamists who come to Syria from all corners of the world.Stay out of Syria is the best option and the only option that the West should consider.
Back to Turkey and her undeniable right to defend its borders, lets hope that she may also realize the folly of her actions in invading and occupying a large part of a sovereign nation, our Cyprus.. Many nations are critical of Turkey and her hypocrisy in presenting herself as a defender of sovereignty whilst 40 thousand of her troops are occupying the northern parts of Cyprus.
The pseudo state she created and controls is a corrupt unrecognized entity, yet Turkey refuses to recognize the RoC which the entire world does. Its time for Turkey to realize that the 38 year occupation can not go on for ever, it damages her greatly in the eyes of the world, its bad for her economy and its detrimental to her ambitions to become a serious power in the ME.its also time for all Cypriots to embrace their true and only motherland, the island of Cyprus, the other two so called motherlands have brought us nothing but pain and suffering, propaganda and indoctrination. Cypriots stand up and swear alliance to our island, our beautiful sweet sunny Cyprus.

Damascus Threatens to Arm Kurds with Missiles if Turkey Continues Meddling in Syria

TEHRAN (FNA)- Damascus has warned Ankara to drop support for terrorist groups fighting Bashar al-Assad's government, threatening that it will arm Turkey's Kurdish insurgents with missiles if Ankara continues meddling in Syria's domestic affairs, sources revealed on Saturday.

Al Manar news website quoted Syrian Kurdish sources as saying that Damascus has sent a warning signal to Ankara and asked the Turkish government to end interference in Syria, specially its direct interference in Syria's Northwestern province of Idlib.

"Damascus has warned Ankara that its continued interfering policies on Syria will force Damascus to arm Turkey's Kurdish opposition and supply them with heavy and light weapons," the sources said on the condition of anonymity, adding that the arms supply will include Kornet anti-tank guided missile.

Reports from Syria said that Ankara is playing a major role in the events taking place in Syria, specially through providing weapons and logistical backup for terrorists.

Western media outlets reported that Turkey and the United States have expanded intelligence cooperation in a joint campaign against Syria.

Officials said Ankara and Washington have agreed to high-level intelligence sharing and coordination to help armed rebels and terrorists oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The officials said the cooperation would include helping the rebels, WorldTribune said in a report.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

In October, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of stirring unrests in Syria once again.

The US and its western and regional allies have long sought to topple Assad and his ruling system. Media reports said that the Syrian rebels and terrorist groups have received significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, a crime paid for by the Persian Gulf Arab states and coordinated by the United States.

The US daily, Washington Post, reported in May that the Syrian rebels and terrorist groups battling the President Bashar al-Assad's government have received significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, a crime paid for by the Persian Gulf Arab states and coordinated by the United States.

The newspaper, quoting opposition activists and US and foreign officials, reported that Obama administration officials emphasized the administration has expanded contacts with opposition military forces to provide the Persian Gulf nations with assessments of rebel credibility and command-and-control infrastructure.

Opposition activists who several months ago said the rebels were running out of ammunition said in May that the flow of weapons - most bought on the black market in neighboring countries or from elements of the Syrian military in the past - has significantly increased after a decision by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other Persian Gulf states to provide millions of dollars in funding each month.

Turkish NGO Sending Heavy Arms to Syria

Thursday 04 Oct 2012
source: http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9107110318
TEHRAN (FNA)- A Turkish NGO known as IHH which is operating in full coordination with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Saudi Wahhabi groups is sending heavy weaponry to Syrian rebels under the guise of humanitarian relief aid.
IHH was established in Istanbul in 1991 by advocates of Turkey's Welfare Party founded by former Turkish Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan. It played a positive role in supporting Bosnian Muslims during the Bosnia War (1992-1995).

Throughout coming years, IHH distanced itself from Turkey's Welfare and Felicity Parties. After the outbreak of unrests in Syria in March 2011 it actively took part in helping the Syrian opposition groups.

IHH was supposed to provide humanitarian relief in case of outbreak of
war, earthquake, hunger or conflict. Current president of the IHH is Fehmi Bulent Yildirim, but his deputy Osman Atalay is practically in charge of IHH's affairs.

Atalay acts in full coordination with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Salafis and Wahhabis, and is engaged in humanitarian relief operations on the surface.

According to the Foundation of Islamic Brotherhood, there is corroborative evidence that IHH (under the cover of humanitarian aid) is providing the terrorists in Syria with heavy weaponry, including anti-aircraft missiles and Turkish newspapers and western officials in Syria have mentioned this help to the Syrian rebels.

On September 14, media reports revealed that a huge arms cargo had been shipped to Turkey to be delivered to terrorists and armed groups in Syria.

"A Libyan ship carrying the largest consignment of weapons for Syria…has docked in Turkey," said the Times in an article published on September 14.

The article's writer, Sheera Frenkel, said a major portion of the cargo on the Libyan ship is making its way to armed groups inside Syria.

Quoting a member of the 'Free Army', who called himself Abu Mohammad, the article said the over-400-ton cargo included "SAM-7 surface-to-air anti-aircraft missiles and rocket-propelled grenades."

On September 10, 2012, Turkish Airlines transited Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants from North Waziristan in Pakistan to the Turkish borders with Syria, sources had revealed.

"A new Al-Qaeda has been created in the region through the financial and logistical backup of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and a number of western states, specially the US," a source told FNA earlier this month

Addressing the 16th heads-of-state summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Tehran in August, the Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi noted terrorist attacks on his nation, and said the "terrorists are backed up by certain foreign states."

The US and its western and regional allies have long sought to topple Bashar al-Assad and his ruling system. Media reports said that the Syrian rebels and terrorist groups have received significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, a crime paid for by the Persian Gulf Arab states and coordinated by the United States.

Since the beginning of unrests in Syria in March 2011, Turkey has tried hard to intensify the crisis in Syria by training terrorists and sending weapons to the Arab country. Such behavior resulted in further problems for government of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in its relations with its neighbors

Syrian army kills dozens of insurgents, including four Turks

Syrian government forces run during fighting with insurgents in the Tal al-Zarazir neighborhood of the northwestern city of Aleppo on September 29, 2012.

The Syrian army says its forces have killed dozens of foreign-backed insurgents including four Turkish nationals in the northwestern city of Aleppo, Press TV reports.

The army said in a statement that the government troops targeted the hideouts of the insurgents in the areas of Bustan al-Qasr, Bustan al-Basha and al-Sheikh Khudr, killing a number of the "terrorists" there on Saturday.

It added that the army also has destroyed a number of cars belonging to the insurgents during separate operations in the three neighborhoods of Aleppo.

The Syrian army has been stepping up its effort to clear more Aleppo neighborhoods of the insurgents fighting the government forces.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Damascus says ‘outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorists’ are the driving factor behind the unrest and deadly violence while the opposition accuses the security forces of being behind the killings.

Western states have been calling for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down. However, Russia and China are strongly opposed to the Western drive to oust Assad.

The Syrian government says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and there are reports that a very large number of the armed militants are foreign nationals, mostly from Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan.

Misfire: NATO mortar ‘gift’ from Turkey to Syrian rebels – newspaper

Published: 09 October, 2012, 01:58

The mortar used to attack the Turkish town of Akcakale is a design specific to NATO and was given to Syrian rebels by Ankara, according to Turkey’s Yurt newspaper. The mortar killed one adult and four children from the same family on Wednesday.

An article by the paper’s Editor-in-Chief, Merdan Yanardag, states that the newspaper received information from a reliable source, which claimed that Turkey itself sent the mortars to rebels in the so-called "free army."

“Turkey is a longtime member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and they’re going to act in conjunction with other NATO powers, so it’s unsurprising that this has happened,” editor of the Pan-African news wire, Abayomi Azikiwe, told RT.

NATO has so far shunned any military involvement in the conflict, but Azikiwe says the alliance is deeply involved in every decision that Turkey makes.

“Ankara isn’t taking any military actions or contemplating any type of military strategy without being in full cooperation with NATO forces,” he said.

Turkey retaliated at Syria for a sixth consecutive day on Monday, after a mortar from Syria landed in Turkey’s Hatay province.

And as Turkey fights to defend its border towns, the country’s president says the country’s military will take any action necessary.

"The worst-case scenarios are taking place right now in Syria … Our government is in constant consultation with the Turkish military. Whatever is needed is being done immediately as you see, and it will continue to be done," President Abdullah Gul said in a statement on Monday.

But it’s not only leaders within Turkey that are stating their opinions on the conflict.

Earlier on Monday, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon warned of the consequences that the conflict could bring to the region.

“The escalation of the conflict along the Syrian-Turkish border and the impact of the crisis on Lebanon are extremely dangerous,” Ban said at the opening of the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg, France.

The exchange of fire began last Wednesday, when Syrian mortar shells killed a woman and four children from the same family in Akcakale.

Many fear the situation will lead to regional instability.
