Wherever you are in Cypus you will find many familar things, like the type of wall-sockets for plugs, driving on the left, British style Traffic lights, a certain amount of well known British brands in the supermarket. wuidely spoken English, etc. you can (with the use of technology) get British TV, but etc, but the lifestyle is different, because of, for example, the weather. Enjoy the differences!

Wherever you move to will be a mixed neighborhood!

Expats usually flock in towns and villages by the sea… I think because they think it might run away! :?

No, it's because they want to think Cyprus is an underdeveloped island, like Crete or Corsica.

Unlike some on here, most Cypriots are very friendly and welcoming and no more so than in Limassol District - Either in town or surrounding villages.

Generally more cosmopolitan than either Paphos or Larnaca as you will find all nationalities where, in addition to hearing Greek, you will hear English, Russian, German, French and Turkish. (even Polish, Rumanian, Bulgarian, Urdu, Arabic, Thai etc) Shopping to suit all tastes and pockets. Many diverse places to eat meeting the needs of all nationalities or international cuisine (at a price) in 5 Star hotels ..... take your pick.

Limassol district has one or two relatively small English en-claves but most of the locations are either multinational or predominantly Greek Cypriot, especially in the more remote villages.

Easy access to the rest of the Island by good roads. Paphos 40 mins., Larnaca 45 mins., Nicosia about an hour. If you locate either side of the town add or subtract maybe 15 mins on that, depending on traffic volume. Well served local bus routes, a bit sparce outside of town but plan your journey and it is reliable and cheap.

Not so good points ............ very heavy town traffic and lack of parking space, this makes walking in the town hazardous as many sidewalks are blocked by parked cars. You can find ‘pay’ parking for €2, where you can leave the car all day.

I've lived here as a foreigner for 20 years and wouldn't live anywhere else!

You make Lemesos sound a bit like England, except for the 'Parking' bit.

There are a number of other things you need to take into consideration before deciding where you want to live in Cyprus, the main one being whether you need to find a job or not. If you do need to work, your skill set would also make a difference to the location you should choose.

We lived in Limassol in 1966/7 when there was a very large HMForces community. Over 90% of Episkopi & Akrotiri married personel live off camp in Limassol, what a shock when we returned in 1998.
