Denktash statement: Cyprus talks must end

Serdar Denktash, chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), has reiterated his view as regards holding a referendum on the Cyprus problem among the Turkish Cypriots in case no solution is reached during the ongoing negotiations process.
In a written statement issued yesterday, Denktash argued: “Knowing that we are acting as spokesmen for our people’s very great majority, we consider this negotiations process, which has been continuing for 44 years, as a process that suspends the human rights of the Turkish Cypriot people and we believe that it must come to an end now”.
Denktash said that in case the United Nations issue a statement saying something else than announcing that an agreement is reached for a federal solution within the agreed parameters, the Turkish Cypriot people will have to go for a referendum and declare their thoughts to the world.
Otherwise, he alleged, “both we and our future generations will be condemned to holding endless negotiating processes” at the end of which the Turkish Cypriots will be deprived from certain rights and face the danger of coming to the point which the Greek Cypriot side wants.
“Those who have not understood that we will not give concessions from our sovereign equality as Turkish Cypriot people and from out independence which is a sign of this, will understand it on this occasion”, he claimed.
Denktash referred also to the recent statement made by the Russian Foreign Ministry on the Cyprus problem and alleged that it is known that Russia unconditionally supports the Greek Cypriots. He argued that this support is not fair and alleged that from the expressions used in the briefing of the Russian Ministry on 27 January 2012, it is understood that the big powers of the world, like Russia, still want to use the Turkish Cypriot “people” as pawns in the global chess game. — (KYPE)
Tough tities Denki boy ................ you can't request restoration of human rights which you have access to and then at the same time deny others their human rights.
Interesting as to why his father didn't encourage him to run for the leadership over in the self styled regime. HHmmm I wonder why?
