Appalling stories about the continued Turkish policy of throwing children in jail for dissent.

Mad Dog Erdogan is down on record as having said he will do ...

"whatever it takes" to crush Kurdish resistance, "men, women, children, no matter what they are I would do whatever it takes".

This is from the BBC some 18 months ago, which reported that 340 Kurdish children were in Turkish Jails for alleged antigovernment protests under the catch-all and lock them up without charges let alone trials...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10145351

To bring things up to date...

Seventeen children who were "taken in to custody" for "making propaganda for an illegal organisation" following a funeral in October 2011 and thrown in to Mersin jail have gone on hunger strike.

The mother of one of the kids had this to say...

"Emine Orhan, mother of jailed 16 years old Jiyan Orhan, said the kids are not in good condition. The kids, have been left in a cell, no judge have called them yet".

There are currently 130 children in Mersin Jail alone for their part in protests and a total of 2,221 children in Turkish Jails, mostly Kurds.

There's a petition for those with an interest to sign on this at... http://www.change.org/petitions/turkish ... keys-jails
