How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I for one wouldn't be surprised if there are external forces attempting to get TR to hand over Famagusta for a settlement.

It's a classic divide and conquer tactic - separate Famagusta from the rest of the occupied area and once the Cypriots accept it - settlement!

I'm not so sure, the GCs will make much of "look what the Turks did to our beautiful city, why give it back now its in ruins". Cyprus and deserted city would hit international headlines, it could just be the catalyst that eventually persuades Turkey to give up the north.

When you see the modern developments between Famagusta and Cape Greco you have to ask yourself why do you need the ruined town, it's going to be a liability. It should only be returned as part of an overall settlement.

The rabid infested flightless bird has to pay compensation to rejuvenate it.

The rabid flightless bird should be allowing all Cypriots to return to their property in the occupied zone and otherwise stop acting like a cuckoo by putting foreign chicks in the nest.

We are dealing with uneducated people who just cannot see the just from the unjust .... that is just how it goes mate. Hopefully the they will not make deleniations based on geographical areas. Because this way the people that may not return are those who immigrated overseas sucha Australia and canada, US and have decided that they will not return. Doesn't make it right but if it will mean facilitating a solution based on the 15 year rule of every Cypriot being able to settle where they like is a reasonable sacrifice

The moment Turkey hands over Famagusta, from their point of view they will have made a major concession and the UN might just agree with them and expect us to reciprocate.

We Cypriots must always maintain our maximum demands.

Don't be fooled, the EP wants to fob us off with Famagusta and expect us to relinquish the rest of Cyprus to Turkey and from their point of view case closed.

Wake up and smell the coffee dudes.

...very interesting, true.

...makes me think of the offer made by Christofias, for a UN mandate over control, rather than a straight return; but it was refused, is that lucky?

if the Republic wants Turkey to put her money where her mouth is, then a return as Communities in the south must be offered reciprocally in recognition of the displacements which occured in '63. it will be through such an offer that the "Turks" will consider repopulation of at least some of the Greek Cypriots' return, as Persons, as well. Respect (Free Association, Free Movement, Free Expression) and the Rule of Law are the basis of the Universal Principals the right thinking People of Cyprus cannot compromise, in all honesty it is the victims, our missing and the "cleansing" which must be addressed first, in any Agreement. oh well, a lot can happen in the next two years, or when Erdogan calls Turkey's next election.
