For sure there are some "men" here, claiming 'Cypriotness', who will NEVER be assimilated with Greece! For example, those with serious identity issues. Born abroad, schooled abroad, claiming Cypriot Nationality through mummy and daddy (easy peasy paperwork), whilst shirking the CNG (or the sister equivalent in Greece).

Who on earth would want to be "assimilated" into the tin pot nation?

No one in the diaspora "shirks" the CNG. At least I don't and being a conscript should be easy peasy compared to ADF, I would imagine. It is just not possible for some as you know, particularly for those born overseas. But if you feel so strongly about serving as I do, then why did you not volunteer all these years, but abandon your "country" of birth instead, for the "imperialist" UK?

Fact is, I am a citizen, and you can't diminish that or the loyalties I have for Cyprus (not Greece), and I would serve the CNG with pride any day and twice on Sunday. I am not the kind of person that views the CNG as an imposition like you and joe do!
