A few words about one of the five regiments.

The 5/42 Evzone Regiment (Greek: 5/42 Σύνταγμα Ευζώνων, 5/42 ΣΕ) or 42nd Regiment (42° Σύνταγμα) was an elite regiment of Evzones of the Hellenic Army, recruited in Central Greece and headquartered in Lamia. The unit was formed after the Balkan Wars, and served in the Entente intervention in the Russian Civil War, the Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922 and the Greco-Italian War during World War II. Under Colonel Nikolaos Plastiras, the regiment achieved legendary status for its fighting prowess during the 1919–1922 war, being nicknamed Seitan Asker ("Army of Satan") from their Turkish adversariescitiation needed.
The unit was disbanded after the conquest of the country by the Germans in 1941. During the Axis Occupation of Greece however, the armed wing of the National and Social Liberation resistance group was named after it as 5/42 Evzones Regiment by EKKA's military leader, Colonel Dimitrios Psarros.

My point is whether you can mock these men and their legend. Can you mock the highlanders for wearing a kilt?
As for the present situation of Greece. Greece is grateful, I am sure, for your kind concern and your distress. But be sure that Greece and all Hellens will survive and prevail. As always. Don't forget. At the peak of Greek Tragedies comes "KATHARSIS". It is usually violent and bloody. But effective. And it restores the "ethical order". And Katharsis is due to come soon.

PS. From 1941 to 1944 the Greeks were dying in the streets of hunger by the thousands. But they did not submit to the Nazis. Do you really think they will submit to Frau Merkel now?

And yes. It is the remembrance of your history and of your tradition and of the sacrifices of your parents and grand parents and grand grand parents that gives you the strength and determination to fight against all odds and prevail. But of course, if you don't have an ethnic identity, if you are o Choirokoitian "Paphetic" Neo Cypriot, if you don't belong, there isn't much to look back to and be inspired, is there?
