That is because the word GREEK goes bofore the word ORTHODOX.
You either say Greek Orthodoc Church of.... or simply Church of....

Again mate... go and tell the Church of CY cos the phrase Greek Orthodox does not appear anywhere on its website.

Here’s another Church which puts the liturgical language in front of its name to attract the “right” kind of people who can follow the preaching…

... and which as an aside... uses a PO Box in the Free Areas as the postal address of its church in Kyrenia. Well guess "mersin 10" doesn't translate too well in to Latin.

Yes I remember using those ships, they weren't free and a lot of them were Cypriot ships.

Greece accomodated. When there were no books for all us Greek cyp students, Books flooded in from Greece. All Greek cyp students studying in Greece never had to pay bus fare and tuition was minimal.

Greece has always provided free school books, until recently! Greek Universities were also always free for Cypriots.

All the political support at the UN and the European Common Market and then the European Union, have been priceless for Cyprus.

Political support is from the Government, not the people, who rather look down on Cypriots.

CBBB i dont know how old you are but if you arent old enough then ask your parents or someone who lived through those years after the war and you will find out many things

I remember working through those years after the war very well

so you have it all figured out I see. stop using your inferiority complexes to explain away a truth....

fact....The junta in Greece backed by the cia and nato, not the people of Greece were used as puppets against Cyprus\

fact....The junta of Greece was knocked out of power by the people of Greece, on the 22nd of july because of its ineffectiveness in the Cyprus mess...

fact...The population of Greece wanted an all out war against Turkey to save Cyprus

fact...I distinctly remember supplies coming in from Greece after the war

fact...Cypriot free university tuition goes a long way when back then no cypriot parent could afford to send their kids to a university in the usa or uk

And in 1955 when eoka was formed were you spouting off the same skata as you are now, or did you change your tune, when things got a little tough, Cyprus is,was and will always be a part of the Greek nation,
And when you state that Greeks look down on Cypriots, you are greatly mistaken, Ive heard many Greeks talk about Cypriots fighting with them against the nazis,in one instance that was recited by a witness two cypriots in northrn Greece after putting up a valiant fight saved the last two bullets for themselves rather then be captured by the nazis, and all with the respect one would have for a brother, your problem is that you take what a bunch of antiquated bitter communists often talk about. Right after the war in 74 the communist parties slogans were Turks are our brothers, our so called brothers just got done butchering and murdering us and the akel was running that slogan....anything for a vote i guess...

Cretans, and other island Greeks have a profound love for Cypriots, and have never heard them denounce cypriots,... If you consider some stupid fool in Athens who would cut off his mothers head for a piece of bread or who killed his own people in the name of fascism, a representative of Greeks then you are again mistaken....Dont allow the insecurities your party preaches to you to influence your brain too much....

Now you really have upset me, you called me a Communist!!!!!!!!! I am far from being one of those, but neither am I a Hellinic Facist.

You obviously agree with my statement regarding most Greeks looking down on Cypriots when you say "Cretans, and other island Greeks have a profound love for Cypriots, and have never heard them denounce cypriots,", which would indicate that the rest of them don't love Cypriots and do denounce them (as they do with the Cretans)!!!!!

I am a permanent resident of Athens since 1972 and I have been all over Greece for business and for vacation all over Greece.

I have never met any Greek who would look down on me or Cypriots in General. On the contrary, I found many who felt embarrassed for what the junta did to us. Also, I cοme across many who express to me their complain for the fact that Cypriots don't like Greeks and regard them as being dishonest etc. And then I have to explain that this is not true for all Cypriots but it has to do with a small Neocypriot "anglopliktoi" minority of Greek Cypriots who would rather say thank you instead of "ευχαριστώ".

You should also take this into consideration. The Greek society has been living with the "Cyprus problem" as an every day reality since at least 1955. They never complained although the issue has brought Greece to the verge of war so many times.

350.000 Constantinoplites (a number very close to the whole population of Greek Cypriots in Cyprus at that time) were displaced in 1955 from Turkey due to the EOKA straggle. Lost their homes and properties and became refugees overnight. I have never heard anyone complaining against the Cypriots. On the contrary during the EOKA straggle tyhe Greeks were demontsrating in favor of Cyprus and were clashing with the police suffering casualties. The day Karaolis and Demetriou were hanged 4 demonstrators died in Athens (2 dead in Cyprus 4 in Greece).....

In 1974 when the junta proclaimed a general mobilisation they all ran to the enlisting stations enthousiastically, waving Greek Flags.

I was on board the F/B Rethymnon which sailed from Piraeus for Cyprus on the 20th of July carrying 550 Greek Cypriot volunteers (students mostly) and a battalion of the Greek Army of the "Heavy Weapons Training Center" (KEBOΠ). None of them complained for the fact that they were being sent to fight for Cyprus. On the contrary, they mixed with us and let us have their weapons to refresh our knowledge on the use of them.

All Greeks that I met after the referendum for the Annan Plan congratulated me for the fact that 75% of Greek Cypriots voted NO and expressed their admiration for T. Papadopoulos.

Sorry, have to run now. Be back later again on this.

No need to. It is self understood. It is so in Greece also (ekklisia tis Ellados) and Crete (ekklisia tis Kritis) etc
