Most of the supplies provided after the invasion had notices on saying things like "Gift from the Federal Republic of Germany".
when there was no airport ships left from limassol with Greek cyps looking for work or an airport to use to go to the usa, uk or australia,
Yes I remember using those ships, they weren't free and a lot of them were Cypriot ships.
Greece accomodated. When there were no books for all us Greek cyp students, Books flooded in from Greece. All Greek cyp students studying in Greece never had to pay bus fare and tuition was minimal.
Greece has always provided free school books, until recently! Greek Universities were also always free for Cypriots.
All the political support at the UN and the European Common Market and then the European Union, have been priceless for Cyprus.
Political support is from the Government, not the people, who rather look down on Cypriots.
CBBB i dont know how old you are but if you arent old enough then ask your parents or someone who lived through those years after the war and you will find out many things
I remember working through those years after the war very well
so you have it all figured out I see. stop using your inferiority complexes to explain away a truth....
fact....The junta in Greece backed by the cia and nato, not the people of Greece were used as puppets against Cyprus\
fact....The junta of Greece was knocked out of power by the people of Greece, on the 22nd of july because of its ineffectiveness in the Cyprus mess...
fact...The population of Greece wanted an all out war against Turkey to save Cyprus
fact...I distinctly remember supplies coming in from Greece after the war
fact...Cypriot free university tuition goes a long way when back then no cypriot parent could afford to send their kids to a university in the usa or uk
And in 1955 when eoka was formed were you spouting off the same skata as you are now, or did you change your tune, when things got a little tough, Cyprus is,was and will always be a part of the Greek nation,
And when you state that Greeks look down on Cypriots, you are greatly mistaken, Ive heard many Greeks talk about Cypriots fighting with them against the nazis,in one instance that was recited by a witness two cypriots in northrn Greece after putting up a valiant fight saved the last two bullets for themselves rather then be captured by the nazis, and all with the respect one would have for a brother, your problem is that you take what a bunch of antiquated bitter communists often talk about. Right after the war in 74 the communist parties slogans were Turks are our brothers, our so called brothers just got done butchering and murdering us and the akel was running that slogan....anything for a vote i guess...
Cretans, and other island Greeks have a profound love for Cypriots, and have never heard them denounce cypriots,... If you consider some stupid fool in Athens who would cut off his mothers head for a piece of bread or who killed his own people in the name of fascism, a representative of Greeks then you are again mistaken....Dont allow the insecurities your party preaches to you to influence your brain too much....
