Of course there are going to be small minded people againt this...I do not know of any country that doesnt have ignorant people. What I AM saying though is that the Greek government is a lot more tolerent toward foreign religion than Turkey is. Come on...its common knowledge that Turkey is an overtly nationalistic state, with a long list of human right violations...just yesterday I read how Turkey was guilty of torturing handicapped people.
Although Im not arguing the point that what you say occurs in Turkey you must take into account that these incidents can be sparadic and blow out of all propoprtion. Turkey is a massive country and is going through a lot of change this will not happen overnight it will take many years for Turkey to reach world standards in all areas, the important issue is encouraging her to do so and not downgrade everything shes does, but of course this could be the real target of those countries who wish to discredit her considering Turkey a threat. Dont forget you must not judge Turkey on todays merits but in 10 to 15 years time, this will be a more modern more democratic and wealthier Turkey entering the EU. Its then that your remember who your allies are!!!!
Like for example the mosque issue in Athens, this was reported in the Guardian Newspaper and shown on TV thats why it stuck out in my mind. Maybe those mosques you have quoted are not specifically built mosques but conversions of other buildings into mosques, could that be the case?? as these resports are normally investiaged before they are made public.
