Unfortunately, RW this is the world we have created by ALLOWING ourselves to be manipulated by the mass media, we mostly pay lipservice to the plight of others but nevertheless life for us goes on regardless.

If they showed the starving on TV one can easily change the channel....and watch football thats how simple all this is

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu brought a visual aid with him today to the United Nations General Assembly. During his speech the Israeli Prime Minister explained the Iranian regime had already completed the first stage on their way to a nuclear bomb. The regime is working on the second stage. Netanyahu urged the members to draw a red line before the Iranians complete the second stage of their program.

Iranian naval forces have so far warned off 30 transregional spy drones from entering the Velayat 91 military maneuver zone, a senior Iranian commander said.

On the fifth day of the military maneuvers on Tuesday, the spokesman for the Velayat 91 naval drills Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari noted that Iranian forces have so far stopped 30 intrusion attempts by foreign spy drones and reconnaissance aircraft into the maneuver zone.

“Different types of reconnaissance and spy aircraft that were attempting to enter the maneuver zone to spy and gather information, faced warnings from the Navy surface units and Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base,” the commander added.

Rastegari stated that Iranian forces have also issued warnings on several occasions to transregional vessels that were attempting to get close to the exercise zone.

Iran’s Navy launched the six-day naval maneuvers codenamed Velayat 91 on December 28, 2012, in order to display the country’s capabilities in defending its maritime borders.

The specialized maritime maneuver covers an area from east of the Strait of Hormuz in the Sea of Oman to north of the Indian Ocean as far as the 18th parallel north.

Over the past few years, Iran has held several military drills to enhance the defensive capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured other nations, especially its neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.

MKO agents under training in US military bases in Afghanistan

The United States is training the terrorist Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) operatives in its military bases in Afghanistan, a senior Iranian MP says.

“Currently, a limited number of MKO forces are receiving training in the US military bases in Afghanistan to carry out terrorist operations,” Baqer Hosseini, member of Majlis Presiding Board, noted on Tuesday.

The lawmaker referred to the US and Canada’s delisting of MKO, saying, “The move by the US and Canada [to delist the MKO] and the support provided to the MKO grouplet by the European Union (EU) are aimed at protecting the remnants of this cell in order to take advantage of them for their own interests.”

Hosseini stated that the MKO terrorists know no other way but to serve as mercenaries, and they are now mercenaries serving the US, Canada and the EU.

The Canadian government removed the MKO from its official list of terrorist organizations on Thursday, December 20, 2012.

Ottawa's move followed similar moves by the United States and the European Union.

The MKO fled to Iraq in 1986, where it enjoyed the support of Iraq's executed dictator Saddam Hussein, and set up its camp near the Iranian border.

The group is known to have cooperated with Saddam in suppressing the 1991 uprisings in southern Iraq and carrying out the massacre of Iraqi Kurds.

The MKO has carried out numerous acts of violence against Iranian civilians and government officials as well.

Let me get this straight yialousa1971;
You are actually a supporter of the regime in Iran?
Have you done any research on what the Iranian public might think of their regime?
As a Greek Orthodox who in general implicates a dislike to muslims in many other threads, is it not a bit unusual for you to support the Muslim Sheria (Law) run Iran - who in fact believe that everyone in the World should be Muslims?
Are you well or are you taking up sides based on "my enemy's enemy is my friend"?
How sad!

Davos 2013: Kissinger says Iran nuclear crisis close

Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger has warned that a crisis involving a nuclear Iran is in the "foreseeable future".

The Nobel Peace laureate, 89, was speaking about prospects in the Middle East at the World Economic Forum.

He said nuclear proliferation in the region triggered by an armed Iran would increase the chances of an atomic war - "a turning point in human history".

He also urged the US and Russia to co-operate in resolving Syria's conflict.

"There has emerged in the region, the current and most urgent issue of nuclear proliferation. For 15 years, the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) have declared that a nuclear Iran is unacceptable, but it has been approaching," he said.

"In a few years, people will have to come to a determination of how to react, or the consequences of non-reaction.

"I believe this point will be reached in a very foreseeable future," he added.

'Nuclear war'

In his assessment of the stand-off between Iran and Western powers over its nuclear programme - which Tehran argues is for peaceful and civilian purposes - Mr Kissinger called for "serious" negotiations on both sides to look for solutions.

"Unilateral intervention by Israel would be a desperate last resort, but the Iranians have to understand that if they keep using the negotiations to gain time to complete a nuclear programme then the situation will become extremely dangerous."

The consequences of Tehran's programme, he said, would be that other countries in the region would also want nuclear arms.

"The danger is that we could be reaching a point where nuclear weapons would become almost conventional, and there will be the possibility of a nuclear conflict at some point... that would be a turning point in human history," he said.

"If Iran acts as a nation and not as a revolutionary cause, there is no reason for America or other permanent members of the UNSC to be in conflict with it, nor any countries in the region. On that basis I would hope that a negotiated solution would be found in a measurable time."

Meanwhile, Mr Kissinger advocated a US-Russia understanding over the conflict in Syria, while opposing military intervention.

"The Syrian problem would best be dealt internationally by Russia and America not making it a contest of national interests," he said.

"I would hope that the undertaking of the US foreign policy will not be be characterised by the divisions that we see in [its] domestic policy."

Iran detects, repels US U2 reconnaissance plane: Cmdr.

A senior Iranian commander says the country identified and repelled an American U2 reconnaissance plane that was trying to intrude into Iranian airspace above the Sea of Oman.

Commander of Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said on Tuesday that the country’s air defense systems identified the radar-evading plane on February 10 but it left the area after receiving a warning from Iran’s air-defense units.

“The US U2 plane was flying from Pakistan’s southwest to the east of the Sea of Oman and was being monitored by our radar and electronic surveillance systems every moment,” the Iranian commander said, adding that Iran’s Persian Gulf radar gave it a warning when it was trying to enter Iran’s airspace above the Sea of Oman and southeast of the Strait of Hormuz.

The plane, which is one of the world’s most technologically-advanced reconnaissance aircraft, probably intended to take images of and gather information about Iran’s southern region, he added.

Earlier in November, Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said the Iranian military had driven away an unidentified aircraft violating the country’s airspace above Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.

The Islamic Republic of Iran vigilantly and precisely monitors all the movements [of its enemies] and takes decisive, necessary and timely actions, Vahidi said.

On December 4, 2012, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy commander, Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, said his forces had captured a US ScanEagle drone over the waters of the Persian Gulf after it violated Iranian airspace.

In December 2011, the Iranian military grounded a US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft while it was flying over the Iranian city of Kashmar, some 225 kilometers (140 miles) from the Afghan border.

The US RQ-170 Sentinel stealth aircraft was brought down with minimal damage by the Iranian Army's electronic warfare unit. The aircraft is one of the United States' most advanced spy drones.
