No one should be surprised that the international vultures would like to see Crete separated from Greece, now that it became evident that the sea of Crete is at least as rich as that of Cyprus in gas and oil.
But, both those vultures as well as their CF supporters must remember (or learn) one thing. That the Cretans staged six revolutions against the Ottoman Empire in just 84 years (from 1821 to 1905) in their effort to unite with Greece, which they achieved in 1913. And although under Ottoman occupation or an "independent state" for many decades after Greece was liberated in 1830, they never stopped participating voluntarily to the wars of Greece (even to the Macedonian straggle against the Turks and the Bulgarians) and to die for Greece.
It should also be noted that their last revolt in 1905 was against their “own independent” Cretan State.
