To be serious, it's a common issue amongst exiles. They lose their identity living abroad and then think that other people who have a strong identity and culture must be deceived. When you have no identity you start to believe that all identifications are arbitrary and "false". It's often those with the weakest sense of who they are, that are most prone to think that others have a "false" identity. They are projecting their own weaknesses and self-doubt upon others. Casting doubt on the identity of others gives them a false sense of superiority. But they are in effect attempting to conceal their own inadequacies and uncertainties having lost their own way.
